Danfoss XG Series Gasketed Heat Exchanger XG Instructions

Product Usage Instructions
Safety Note:
To avoid injury and damage, only qualified personnel should perform assembly, start-up and maintenance work. Be sure to read and follow all instructions carefully.
Cleaning the heat exchanger plates:
To clean the heat transfer plates, follow these steps:
- Backwash: Wash with clean water at a fast speed in the opposite direction of normal operation.
- Hand cleaning: Unscrew the plates, clean with a soft brush and water. Use a cleaning compound if necessary.
Replace Gaskets:
To replace the batteries, follow these steps depending on the battery type:
- XG 10 Gaskets: Remove the old gasket, place the new gasket in the groove.
- Clip-on Gaskets: Remove the old gasket, place the new clip-on gasket and secure it with a clip.
- Adhesive Forms: Remove the old case, clean the groove, apply the glue, let it dry, then place the bead in the groove.
Assembling the Heat Exchanger:
Before assembly, make sure the sealing surfaces and the pins are clean. Follow these steps:
- Place the plates on the back and windward sides of the front end plate.
- Check the profile plate on the different routes.
- To align the bars, start from the center outwards so that the end plates are aligned.
A GOOD STORY
Security information
To avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment, please read and follow these instructions carefully. Proper assembly, start-up and maintenance work should only be performed by qualified and authorized personnel.
Cleaning the heat exchanger plates, Back
Backwashing removes dirt that has accumulated on the plate surface. Clean water flows to the primary and/or secondary sides in a direction different from that used during normal operation. The heat exchanger can also be cleaned with a cleaning agent, approved by Danfoss (e.g. Kaloxi® or Radiner FI or water cleaning agent), which is environmentally friendly and can be disposed of in the normal waste stream. After using the cleaning agent, the heat exchanger must be thoroughly rinsed with fresh water.
Cleaning the heat exchanger plates
Cleaning heat exchanger plates by hand 1
- You cannot open the hot water heater.
- Do not damage the heat transfer plate during cleaning.
- Remove the heat exchanger plates from the heat exchanger for cleaning. Clean the plates with a soft brush and running water.
- If the dirt doesn’t come off the plates, you can use a cleaning compound.
- After using the cleaning compound, all heat transfer plates should be rinsed with clean running water.
Opening the heat exchanger
Opening the heat exchanger 2
Wait until the temperature of the heat exchanger drops below +40 °C before opening the heat exchanger.
- Clean the heat exchanger.
- Mark the order of the transition plates by drawing a diagonal line across the transition.
- Measure and record the heat exchanger’s temperature (A-meter).
- Unscrew and unscrew the bolts of the switch.
- Open the plate pack by moving the end plate. Unscrew the heat exchanger plates from them.
Replacement of XG 10 gas cylinders
- Remove the old belt.
- Place the new gasket into the groove.
The plate is ready for installation in the heat exchanger.
Clip-on gaskets
For XG 14, XG 18, XG 20, XG 31, XG 40, XG 50.
- Remove the old belt.
- Place the new clip bag into the groove and secure it with the help of the clip. The plate is ready for installation in the heat exchanger.
Closed banks
For XG heat exchangers except for XG-10 and those with clip-on seals (see sections above).
- Remove the old belt.
- Carefully clean the air vent (be aware of safety precautions when using e.g. trichloroethylene).
- Apply the glue to the air vent and let it dry for 10 minutes.
- Place the pen in the sink and let it dry for 1 hour. After drying, the plate can be inserted into the heat exchanger.
Assembling the heat exchanger 2
Before assembly, check that the sealing surfaces are clean and that the plates are firmly attached to the heat transfer plates.
- Raise the plates in the opposite direction from that used for disassembly, with the windward side of the plate facing forward.
- Check the profile plate near the files in the opposite direction (see plate diagram).
- Press the boards together and begin to secure the back plate by tightening the bolts properly (start tightening from the center outwards, check the door). Make sure the end boards are parallel at all times.
- Continue to heat until the heat exchanger A (heating measurement) is reached.
- The measurement of the insulation is correct when the ends of the panels are touching each other. The strength of the insulation causes a change in the profile plate.
