    polarity sensitive

Product Usage Instructions

Online Check

1. From Network Nodes screen, go to ‘Config Status’ tab.

2. Each line item indicates a single module/controller.

3. Verify all programmed modules are online.

IO Communication Issues

Initial Checks:

  • Power: Ensure the module exists, check rotary switch, and
    correct module type.
  • Checks: Ensure proper channel is enabled.
  • Wiring Issues: Consider polarity, EOL resistors,
    daisy-chaining, and termination methods.

Power

1. Use 24Vac/dc for the communication module.

2. Solid green indicator at the top indicates power is okay.

3. Individual Power LED on each module.

4. Communication module requires connection to the second module
to power.

Addressing

AK2 Module Format: Uses 3 numbers for
addressing.

Alternative Formats:

  • Calculated: ‘CA-XX’ format.
  • Case Controllers: 1 number.
  • Legacy IO (AKCe ss): 2 numbers.

Does Module Exist?

Communication Module:

– Up to 9 modules of any combination can be connected to one
Communication Module.

Communication Module Rotary Switch

– Use 3 Rotary Dials to determine the address.

– Addresses cannot be duplicated.

Communication Module Type

  • Controller types include AK-SM 850, AK-SM 880, AK-SM 880R.
  • Native Communication Module Type: AK-CM 101C, AK-CM 101A.

Wiring – Polarity

– LON wiring is not polarity sensitive (TP78 or RS485).

– Modbus wiring is polarity sensitive.

Term Switches and EOL Resistors

– AK-SM at end of loop Term Switch = On.

– AK-SM in middle of loop Term Switch = Off.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: What should I do if a full row of modules is offline?

A: In such a case, the communication module should be changed as
well. Replace modules one at a time to identify the one affecting
others.

Q: How do I address the modules?

A: Use the rotary switches and follow the addressing guidelines
provided in the manual for accurate addressing.
