Disposal

Product

  • Any electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU must display this symbol. This symbol tells you that the product cannot be disposed of via household waste after no longer being in use.
  • Law requires all owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) to recycle them separately. End consumers must remove empty batteries or rechargeables that are not an intrinsic part of WEEE as well as light bulbs that can be removed from WEEE without breaking, before taking them to a designated collection point.
  • Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment must take back WEEE. At Conrad, you’ve got the following free recycling options (more information available on our webpage): at our retail stores at Conrad collection points at communal recycling centres, or via WEEE-compliant recycling schemes set up by manufacturers and distributors
  • End consumers are responsible for the deletion of personal information stored on WEEE. Keep in mind that WEEE regulations issued by countries other than Germany may differ.

Batteries (rechargeable and disposable)

  • Remove any batteries from the device and discard them separately. Being the end con-sumer, law (Battery Act) requires you to recycle all used batteries appropriately. Do not put batteries in your household waste.
  • Batteries that contain hazardous materials display the logo shown here to tell you that they cannot be discarded via household waste. The relevant heavy metals are Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, and Pb=lead (the element names are shown below the bin symbol on the battery).
  • You can recycle batteries free of charge by taking them to communal recycling centres, our retail stores and to any place that sells batteries. Doing this means you both observe the law and help protect the environment.
  • Use tape to cover any exposed battery contacts to prevent short-circuiting. Even fully discharged batteries contain enough rest charge to pose a health risk (in the form of bursting, heating up, catching fire, exploding) in the event of a short circuit.
