Colour Me Safe Patch Test Application Instructions
- Prepare Your Test:
Remove all components from your test kit card, including the satchels containing tint and activator, and the mixing paddle. Place the card on a flat surface. Ensure to carry out this process on a clear surface, away from any clothing, as the colourant will stain.
- Extract Test Product:
Cut open both bags containing tint and activator, then squeeze the contents into the mixing space on the inside of the test kit.
- Mix the Test Product:
Use the mixing paddle provided to mix the tint and activator until combined.
- Apply the Test Product:
Use the mixing paddle to apply a small spot of the combined product to the test area. We suggest the inside of your elbow, but your stylist may recommend another area for ease of reviewing your test. If possible, apply the product to an area that is clearly visible and free of tattoos, etc.
- Wait:
Leave the product on your skin for the time advised by your hair professional or specified by the product manufacturer. Keep the test area uncovered while the product is wet to avoid staining clothing.
- Photograph Your Test:
Take one photo of the test area and another photo of the back panel of your test kit to identify the product used in your test. Ensure that the product information, date packed and the business your appointment with is clearly visible. After this is completed you can wash the test area with lukewarm water.
- Upload Your Test Photos:
Scan the QR code on your test card or visit colourmesafe.com to register as a Patch Testing User and follow the instructions to upload the photos of your test. Your test will then be reviewed and then you and your salon will be notified of the results.
Please contact your stylist if you have any questions or contact us at office@colourmesafe.com. If you notice any changes or irritations to your skin after the test, please inform your salon professional as soon as possible.
Warning:
This form of testing does not serve as a substitute for a comprehensive diagnostic process administered by a qualified dermatologist. An allergy alert test signifies the potential necessity to refrain from using a specific hair colouring product.
Should any symptoms manifest during or after 48 hours, it is advised to remove the product and gently wash the area with water. Certain symptoms may be more prevalent when significant amounts of colourant are applied to the scalp. During the allergy alert test, it is important to closely monitor the test area for signs of redness, raised skin, itchiness, or a rash around the test area.
Troubleshooting
- If you notice changes or irritations after the test: inform your salon professional as soon as possible.
- If symptoms occur during or after 48 hours: remove the product and gently wash the area with water.
- If you develop signs around the test area: closely monitor for redness, raised skin, itchiness, or a rash, and contact your salon if these occur.
- To help prevent staining: perform preparation on a clear surface away from clothing and keep the test area uncovered while the product is wet.
