Product Usage Instructions

The wireless keyboard AK-C7412F-GFU is a high quality, highly reliable hygiene keyboard, full desktop layout, with an integrated touchpad and a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It is particularly designed for the use at hospitals and by practitioners. The keyboard is sealed with a silicone membrane. The CLEAN function avoids sending keystrokes to your PC during cleaning/disinfection. Please follow the instructions provided by your authorities for standard disinfection of surfaces for reprocessing of the keyboard.

Installation

  1. The keyboard is shipped with enabled TRANSPORT-Mode! Deactivate the TRANSPORT-Mode following the steps in section “Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
  2. Connect the wireless USB-RF-Dongle to the USB port of your computer.
  3. The keyboard should now be functional and ready for usage.

Safety Note

  1. The keyboard contains a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion-Battery (Rated capacity 3,7 Wh)
  2. The keyboard achieves the ingress protection against water jets (IP65) only with correctly mounted IP65 protection plug on top of the USB Charging Socket. The user shall always confirm that the protection plug is mounted before exposing the device to liquids for cleaning and disinfection!
  3. The shipment of up to 2 products with built-in Lithium-Ion-Battery where the rated capacity is ≤ 100 Wh per battery does not require marking as per Dangerous Goods Regulations. Otherwise, the products need to be shipped with correct declaration under the applicable Dangerous Goods Regulation with lithium battery mark UN 3481. Please consult us with regards to MSDS and UN38.3 report if required.
  4. Safe removal and disposal of the battery:
    1. Discharge the battery by normal use until the keyboard stops operation.
    2. Remove the silicone rubber cover and unscrew the housing using a standard screwdriver PH00.
    3. Disconnect the cabling between the Lithium-Ion-Battery and the Printed-Circuit-Board.

By collecting and recycling old batteries and accumulators separately, you help to avoid negative effects on human health and the environment.

Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) is marked with the symbolCHERRY-C7412F-GFU-Wireless-Keyboard-fig-1 of the crossed-out wheeled bin indicating the requirement not to dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as unsorted municipal waste and to collect such WEEE separately. Final users of WEEE from private households shall be able to return WEEE as per EU country local regulations into established collection facilities free of charge. Please consult your municipal waste department for detailed advice on separate collection of WEEE.

Touchpad functionality
The touchpad emulates a USB HID Mouse device. The touchpad has several multi-touch capabilities.

  • VERTICAL SCROLL: Is actuated by a double fingertip movement. The scroll direction follows the direction of a mouse wheel which is opposite to the direction of a multi-touch capable device.
  • RIGHT CLICK: Is actuated by tapping simultaneously with two-fingertip on the touchpad.
  • Drag and Drop: Is actuated by double tap and hold with on finger or pressing and hold the left key and move the finger on the touchpad.
  • Touchpad enable/disable: Is actuated by the key combination FN + F6 (Enable/Disable).

How to deactivate/activate the TRANSPORT-Mode (TM)?

Deactivate TM: use key combination “Fn“ + “Shift Right“. Activate TM: use key combination “Fn“ + “CapsLock“ + “BackSpace“ Power save mode! The status LEDs show the status of NumLock, CapsLock and ScrollLock as soon as those functions are enabled. The status LEDs will turn off after a while to save battery power. Press the key “Fn” to check the status of the LEDs.

How to determine the battery status?

The keyboard indicates a battery low situation with the status LEDs. With each key actuation one of the status LEDs will light up shortly in round robin manner. Please charge the battery as soon as possible via the USB Type-C charging socket with the included USB charging cable. The keyboard can be charged via any standard USB charging travel adapter or via USB ports on Host-PCs.

How to activate/deactivate the CLEAN function?

The key combination “Fn” + “Shift (Clean on/off)” activates and deactivates the CLEAN function. The mode ‘CLEAN function active’ is indicated with the status LED “Clean”. During this mode the user can wipe disinfect or clean the keyboard and all key entries are suppressed. The mode ‘CLEAN function active’ ends automatically after a timeout of 30 seconds or by key combination.

How to investigate a wireless connection problem?

Check whether CLEAN Mode is active and deactivate it if required. Check whether the USB RF Dongle is still recognized in the device manager of your Operating System (VID&PID=0x0F39&0x000F). Follow the pairing instruction below. In case all previous steps did not resolve the problem please consult with customer services.

How to pair a new USB-RF-Dongle with the device?

Note: This procedure is only required in case you received a new USB-RF-Dongle as a spare part in case the dongle was lost or damaged! Make sure that all other USB-RF-Dongle in the near neighborhood are removed from the USB ports and connect only the new USB-RF-Dongle. Initiate the pairing between USB-RF-Dongle and Keyboard with key combination “Fn” + “Esc”.The Scroll Lock status LED will flash in fast frequency for approx. 5 seconds until the pairing process completed. Test the keyboard. In case the pairing process failed double check Step 1. In case the pairing process is not successful please consult with customer services.

What shall I do in case the touchpad behaves unstable?

Do not touch the touchpad during insertion of new batteries otherwise the calibration routine of the touchpad results in a wrong initialization. In case this has occurred, the touchpad will react in unstable manner. Please trigger a re-calibration of the touchpad via activating and deactivating the CLEAN function and wait for 2 seconds before using the touchpad. In case the problem persists please remove and reinsert the batteries or consult with customer services.
