CSA / UL Warnings
WARNING: Transient surge suppression shall be installed on the line side of this equipment and shall be rated n/a V (phase to ground), 275 V (Phase to phase), suitable for overvoltage category III, and shall provide protection for a rated impulse withstand voltage peak of 4 kV.
UL/CSA Conditions:
- Max. Surrounding air temperature rating 40 centigrade degree.
- Use copper conductors only.
- For use in pollution degree 2 environment only.
Mounting and Installation
The devices can be mounted vertically or horizontally on a 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715). Ensure adequate clearance for ventilation.
Diagram Description (Page 2): Illustrates the mounting of the EMT6/EMT6-DB units on a DIN rail, including dimensions and orientation. It also shows the terminal layout for control supply (A1/A2), auxiliary contacts (13/14, 21/22), thermistor (T1/T2), and remote reset (Y1/Y2).
Wiring and Specifications
Terminal Identification:
- (a) Rated control supply voltage (A1/A2)
- (b) Auxiliary contact (break contact 21/22)
- (c) Supply LED (green)
- (d) Test/Reset button
- (e) Manual and automatic reset selector
- (f) Tripped LED (red)
- (g) Auxiliary contact (make contact 13/14)

Wire Gauge and Torque Specifications:
| Wire Size (mm²) | Wire Size (AWG) | Torque (Nm) | Torque (lb-in) | Control Supply Voltage (A1/A2) | Control Supply Voltage (EMT6 (230V) / EMT6-DB (230V)) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 x (0.5 - 2.5) | 1 x (0.5 - 2.5) 20 - 14 | 0.8 mm x (4 - 5.5 mm) | 0.8 - 1.2 | 7.1 - 10.6 | 24 V - 240 V 50 - 400 Hz (-15%, +10%) | 230 V 50/60 Hz (-15%, +10%) |
| 2 x (0.5 - 1.5) | 2 x (0.5 - 1.5) 20 - 16 | 0.03" x (0.16 - 0.22") | 0.8 - 1.2 | 7.1 - 10.6 | 24 V - 240 V (-15%, +10%) |
Note: Each terminal must not be assigned cables with different cross-sections.
Operation Modes
The relays can be operated in "HAND" (Manual) or "AUTO" (Automatic) modes. The mode selection determines the reset behavior.
HAND Mode (Manual Reset)
DANGER: Danger to personnel and machines. In "HAND" mode, the released relay switches on automatically after a voltage dip.
(This warning is provided in multiple languages.)
Diagram Description (Page 3): Illustrates the timing sequence for the HAND mode, showing the control supply, reset signal, and tripped LED behavior.
AUTO Mode (Automatic Reset)
DANGER: Danger to personnel and machines. In "AUTO" mode, machines can restart automatically after a release.
Important Note: EMT6 and EMT6 (230V) models can only be operated in "AUTO" mode.
(This warning is provided in multiple languages.)
Diagram Description (Page 3 & 4): Illustrates the timing sequence for the AUTO mode, showing the control supply, reset signal, and tripped LED behavior.
Test/Reset Function
The Test/Reset button allows for manual testing of the relay's trip function and resetting it. The behavior (manual vs. automatic reset) is determined by the mode selector.
