Installation Instructions for the Series NRX Breaker and Trip Unit Remote Mount CAM Module Adapter
Instruction Leaflet IL019001EN
Effective December 2016
Supersedes March 2013
This document provides instructions for the proper installation of the adapter used for remote mounting of the Eaton Series NRX Communications Adapter Module (CAM).
This kit includes an adapter cable for connecting the CAM module to the circuit breaker when remote mounting is required, such as with a Fixed Mount circuit breaker. The adapter consists of a 1-meter (3 ft.) cable that connects the CAM module to the breaker secondary. The CAM module itself should be mounted on a length of standard grounded DIN rail. The kit does not include the DIN rail.

Installation Steps
Figure 1: Connection of Adapter Cable to the NRX Circuit Breaker
Figure 1 illustrates the connection of the adapter cable to the NRX circuit breaker and the Communications Adapter Module (CAM). The diagram shows the Series NRX circuit breaker unit and a separate Communications Adapter Module (CAT. ICAM). An adapter cable, approximately 1 meter in length, connects these two components. The cable has numbered flags on its wires corresponding to breaker secondary terminal designators. Pin 19 is highlighted on the cable. The CAM module has terminal blocks labeled with pin numbers 19 through 26 and corresponding functions: SGF1, SGF2, AGND, +24V, CMM1, CMM2, CMM3, CMM4, CMM5.
Figure 2: Connection to the CAM Module
Figure 2 shows a close-up view of the connection to the CAM module. The adapter cable's connector is keyed to ensure it fits in only one direction. When connecting the adapter cable to the CAM module, ensure Pin 19, identified by its numbered flag, is positioned in the lower left position as depicted in the figure.
Figure 3: Connection to the CAM Module
Figure 3 details the connection of the drain wire. The drain wire can be connected to the SHIELD terminal on the MCAM or ICAM, or to the grounded DIN rail. For PCAM or ECAM modules, the provided 2-18 AWG ferrule should be used to connect the cable drain wire to the power supply ground terminal for a proper connection, as illustrated.
General Connection Notes:
The numbered flags on each wire of the adapter cable correspond directly with the breaker secondary terminal designators. Ensure correct alignment when connecting to the CAM module, paying attention to the keyed connector and the position of Pin 19.
