GPI support FAQ
Common questions about manuals, registration, and support for this brand.
-
Can I use my GPI fuel pump to transfer water or chemicals?
No. Unless explicitly specified (e.g., the 01N Series water meters with plastic housings), GPI fuel transfer pumps are strictly designed for petroleum products like gasoline, diesel blends (up to B20), and kerosene. Pumping water or unauthorized chemicals will damage the pump components and void the warranty.
-
What should I do if my GPI pump motor runs but does not pump fluid?
First, ensure the fuel level in your tank is sufficient and that the suction pipe is not obstructed or missing. Inspect for a system air leak, verify the bypass poppet is not binding, and clean the strainer if necessary. Always disconnect the power source securely before inspecting moving parts.
-
How do I maintain my GPI turbine flow meter?
GPI turbine meters are virtually maintenance-free. Ensure the rotor moves freely; if it does not, apply a penetrating lubricant on the rotor, shaft, and bearings, and gently remove any debris with a soft brush. Do not blow compressed air through the turbine, as it can damage the internal components.
-
Why does my GPI fuel pump motor stall in bypass mode?
Stalling can occur if the gears are locked or worn, if the bypass poppet is binding, or if there is defective wiring. Leaving the pump running for more than 5 minutes with the nozzle closed can build up pressure and cause motor thermal damage.
-
Where can I find the serial number on my GPI equipment?
The serial number and model information are normally located on the manufacturer's specification or faceplate affixed directly to the pump or meter housing.
