Product Usage Instructions

Preparation

  1. Unscrew the cap and remove the paddle from the tube. Avoid
    touching the agar-coated surfaces.
  2. Return the paddle to the tube and lightly secure the cap. Wait
    24-48 hours.

Testing Process

  1. Immerse the paddle into the fluid sample to cover both
surfaces. Agitate back and forth for 5 seconds.
  2. Allow excess fluid to drain from the paddle. Avoid outside
    contamination.

Disposal

Used paddles can be disposed of by soaking in a 5% bleach
solution.

Result Interpretation

Compare growth on the paddle to the conversion chart provided.
Focus on the number of colonies rather than their size.

Bacteria Growth

Read after 24-36 hours. Contamination appears as red or pink
spots.

Fungi Growth

Read after 36-48 hours. Contamination appears as smooth, round
white spots or fuzzy growth.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How often should I conduct tests?

A: Establish a baseline first, then schedule less frequent tests
to monitor changes. Weekly tests are common.

Q: What corrective actions should be taken?

A: Take corrective measures when contamination levels reach 10
CFU/gram or higher for bacteria.

Q: How should I store the test kit?

A: Store at room temperature, avoiding sunlight. Do not
refrigerate.

Test kit for counting both bacteria and fungi
An industrial grade test that makes checking for both bacteria and fungi (mold and yeast)
easy and uncomplicated for anyone.

Guidelines for Interpretation of Results The key for determining the level of contamination is the number of growth spots (Colony Forming Units), the size of the CFU is not important.
One side of the dip slide tests for BACTERIA; contamination is viewed as red or pink spots.
The other side tests for FUNGI (yeast and mold); contamination is typically viewed as smooth, round white spots or spots showing fuzzy growth.
The chart is only to be intended as a guideline. Be guided by your individual circumstances.

Corrective Action
Typically, corrective measures should be taken when contamination rises to:

Bacteria = 10 CFU/gram or higher

Fungi (mold and yeast) = 10³ CFU/gram or higher.
Test Schedule
When starting a new program, a baseline of contamination should be established. After this, testing on a less frequent basis can be scheduled to monitor changes from the established baseline. Many maintenance test schedules call for weekly tests: Dip on Friday, read on Monday.

Store at room temperature. Avoid sunlight.
Do Not Refrigerate.

Unscrew the cap and remove the paddle from the tube. Be careful not to touch either of the paddle’s agar coated surfaces.
Return the paddle to the tube and lightly secure the cap. Wait 24-48 hours. See step 5.

Immerse the paddle into the fluid sample so that both surfaces are covered. Agitate the slide back and forth for 5 seconds.

Allow excess fluid to drain from the paddle. Remember, to avoid outside contamination, be careful not to touch the paddle to any other surface before replacing it in the tube.

Disposal: Used paddles can be disposed of by soaking in a 5% bleach solution.
Compare growth on the paddle to the conversion chart on the reverse side of this brochure. Remember, it is the number of colonies and not the size that is important.
BACTERIA: growth can be read after 24-36 hours. Total Count (TTC) is the name for the bacteria side. Contamination is viewed as red or pink spots.
FUNGI: (Yeast & Mold) growth can be read after 36-48 hours. Yeast and mold are both subsets of Fungi. Contamination is typically viewed as smooth, round white spots or spots showing fuzzy growth.
