We recommend carrying out assembly work with the help of a second person – especially when installing the controller module.
3. Assembly and preparation of the set for work
The assembly is illustrated using the example of a wooden smokehouse.
The smokehouse to which the set modules are to be mounted should be located / set up outside the building under a roof. This location should provide an electrical power supply with grounding. Due to the electrical installation and heating elements, great care should be taken to select the most flat, stable and flame-retardant surface possible to avoid the risk of the device tipping over and causing a fire.
Note: The set includes two types of wood screws – to be used depending on the wall thickness of your smokehouse. 3.5×12 mm screws are suitable for walls with a maximum thickness of 15 mm (dragON smokehouse with the symbol 330360); and 3.5×20 mm screws for walls thicker than 15 mm (dragON smokehouses with the symbols 330339; 330341; 330346).
Depending on the specifics of a given smokehouse and the material it is made of, it may be necessary to use a different type of mounting screws than those included in the set when assembling the modules. In such a case, they should be selected independently – so that they provide safe, stable mounting of the modules and that the conditions for safe use of the set are maintained.
· Prepare the workspace and tools .
Tools needed: screwdriver with long Phillips bit, Phillips screwdriver, hammer, tools for cutting a hole for the heater module, drill and drills for making holes for the controller cables.
Before assembly, read the enclosed instructions carefully.
· In the case of a wooden smokehouse, before assembling the modules, we recommend protecting the outer surface of the smokehouse chamber with edible oil or a natural impregnant, e.g. linseed oil .
27
Assembly of heater, thermal and thermocouple modules and Wi-Fi controller We recommend that assembly work be carried out with the help of a second person (especially when assembling the controller module). 1. Remove the heater module (shown in the illustration below) from the packaging.
2. Using the template for mounting the heating module included in the set (matched to the size of the rear box of the heating module), mark the place at the bottom of the rear wall of the smoking chamber. Note: the hole for the heating module must be made at least 70 mm from the bottom edge of the smoking chamber. Cut a rectangular hole (based on the drawings below). Depending on the material the smokehouse is made of, use the necessary tools. After cutting the hole through the open chamber door, insert the heating module into the interior of the smokehouse and feed the main cable with the red tip through the hole.
3. Place the heater module in the rectangular opening on the rear wall of the chamber – push it all the way in until it rests with its larger sheet metal surface against the wall of the smokehouse. The module is ready to be screwed in.
28
4. Screw the heater module to the rear wall from the inside of the chamber using the wood screws included in the set (4 pcs. 3.5×20 mm or 3.5×12 mm – depending on the wall thickness), and in the case of steel (or other) smokehouses, use metal screws (or other suitable ones). Use a screwdriver with a long Phillips bit.
5. NOTE!!! Choose the mounting location for the controller module – so that the length of the main cable (with the red tip) used to connect the heater to the controller module is sufficient to connect both modules. Place the controller module mounting template on the wall of the smokehouse chamber and mark the mounting points for the controller module mounting screws on the wall in the places marked with crosses on the template (sample drawing below). Also mark the places marked with circles and then drill both holes through (top and bottom) according to the parameters from the template.
6. Remove the Controller Module and the Thermal and Thermocouple Module from the set.

7. There is a green thermocouple on the Controller module mounting wall. Remove the cardboard protecting the green thermocouple
wire and the electrical connector (be careful – do not push the wires inside the Controller Module!). Gently pull the green thermocouple out of the Controller Module by about 15-20 cm (be careful – do not yank the wire so as not to tear it out of the controller). Ask a second person to hold the Controller Module at the right height and insert the thermocouple through the lower – smaller hole in the chamber wall – as shown in the drawing below.
8. Take the Thermostat and Thermocouple Module and from the inside of the chamber, insert the thermostat cable through the upper hole in the wall.
30
9. Connect the thermostat wires through the chamber wall to the electrical connector coming from the Controller Module.
a) Open the electrical connector clips.
b) Insert the thermostat module wires into the openings
of the electrical connector (1) – until you feel resistance,
then lower the clips (2).
2
1
Inserting the wires into the electrical connector is arbitrary – it does not matter which wire goes into which opening.
10. Install the green thermocouple on the Thermocouple and Thermocouple Module plate – pull the thermocouple through the smoker wall so that its green silicone wire can be pushed into the plate cutout (Fig. A) and moved until it is in the central hole in the plate at the end of the cutout (Fig. B).
Fig. A
Fig. B
31
11. Bend the thermocouple downwards in an arc (Fig. C), then insert it through the hole in the lower bent side of the plate and secure the thermocouple from below with the M8 nut included with the module (Fig. D).
Fig. C
Fig. D
12. Straighten the thermocouple wire that creates the arc by pushing it through the mounting hole in the chamber wall – so that it is arranged as shown below. Insert the prepared module into the mounting holes in the chamber wall.
13. Holding the module against the wall, secure it to the wall using four 3.5x20mm screws (included).
32
14. Insert excess wires into the Controller Module, then place it against the smoker wall and position it on the mounting location using the designated template. Secure the Controller Module with four black M4 2x19mm screws (included).
15. Connect the main wire with the red quick connector to the Controller Module (to connect the module to the heater module). Insert the wire into the socket until you hear the characteristic click of the latch. KLIK
16. Screw the Wi-Fi antenna onto the socket on the back of the Control Module and position it vertically upwards, as shown in the illustration below.
33
17. Attach the main cable to the smoker wall using the 4 cable clamps included in the kit as shown in the picture:
18. Connect the power cord to the heater module socket:
4. Service Remember that before you begin smoking any food, you must “warm up” the heating elements. This process should take about 30 minutes and is done to remove any manufacturing residue. 1. DO NOT smoke indoors, it MUST be done outdoors. 2. Use only heat and a fan during the smoking process. 3. Close the smoker door. 4. Plug the power cord into the fan motor box and then into an electrical outlet with a power source and grounding. After installing – in accordance with the assembly instructions the controller module, heating module, thermal relay and thermocouple, and then connecting the set to a power source, you can manage the operation of the smokehouse also in the smoking option with a dragON Jet series smoke generator. To control the smoke generator using the controller, connect the generator pump cable to the controller socket.) For instructions on smoking with the smoke generator, see the instructions included in the dragON Jet product packaging.
34
You can use the smokehouse in several options: · DRYING (without smoke) temperature ~ 60°C · COLD SMOKING temperature ~ 16-25°C · WARM SMOKING temperature ~ 30-55°C · HOT SMOKING temperature ~ 55-65°C · BAKING temperature ~ 70-85°C The temperatures given are approximate, exact valuesshould be selected for a specific batch. When selecting a given option for using the smokehouse, use the settings available on the controller in accordance with the general guidelines and the recommendations given in the recipe relating to a specific batch.
