Installation:
Find suitable location where motion is expected across the detection area.

  1. Switch the mains power OFF.
  2. Remove the mounting base ‘B’ from the light body ‘A’ by unscrewing the two front screws ‘C’. Pull handle ‘H’ to remove mounting plate ‘B’.
  3. Drill two holes in the wall using the holes ‘D’ in the mounting base ‘B’ as a template. Ensure mounting base will face UP in correct orientation, refer to UP arrows on it.
  4. Insert the plastic rawl plugs into the holes if required.
  5. Before installing the mounting base back onto the wall, run your mains cable through grommet ‘G’, then secure the mounting plate by tightening the screws into the rawl plugs. WARNING: Ensure the mounting base ‘B’ is facing in correct orientation, refer to the ‘UP’ arrow on it.
  6. Connect the wiring into the Terminal Block ‘H’ ensuring power cable passes through rubber grommet ‘G’. Secure the cable with cable clamp ‘J’. Apply silicone around cable and grommet ‘G’ if required to maintain IP rating.
  7. Connect the Neutral (N) and Active (L) according to the markings on the terminal block ‘F’. ( Middle terminal is a spare one)
  8. Refit the light body ‘A’ to the mounting base ‘B’, securing it in place using 2 screws ‘C’ and washers removed earlier. Tighten the screws firmly.
  9. Adjust the head(s) ‘K’ and sensor ‘S’ into desired direction by loosening up the butterfly nut ‘E’ in the knuckle. Re-tighten nut ‘E’ after adjustment.
  10. Switch ON the power.

The controls on the Sensor

  • TIME: The length of time the light remains ON after detection can be adjusted from 10+5sec to 4+1minutes. Rotating the TIME dial towards ‘+’will increase the time, rotating towards ‘-’ will reduce duration of time. Timer has ‘time restart’ function. Any subsequent detection will restart the TIME period again from the beginning.
  • Example: time set to 3min. Sensor detects movement again after 2 minutes. Time restarts again from the beginning and the light will stay on for 2+3= 5minutes.
  • SENS: Sensitivity can be adjusted from minimum (-) to maximum (+). LUX: The Lux setting determines when you want the light to come on. In Night setting ( Brilliant-22824-05-Single-Security-Light-With-Sensor-FIG-4 ) the sensor will only work at night, while in the Day setting ( Brilliant-22824-05-Single-Security-Light-With-Sensor-FIG-5 ), the sensor will operate during both day and night.Brilliant-22824-05-Single-Security-Light-With-Sensor-FIG-6

Setting the controls

  1. Set the LUX to Day and SENS to about 50% ( later it can be increased) and TIME to minimum (-).
  2. For best performance, face the sensor in direction where the motion is expected across the detection area. The sensor is less sensitive when motion is towards or away from it.
  3. Adjusting the elbow joint on the sensor arm, loosen the knuckle and screw and direct the sensor towards desired area.
  4. Turn power ON. The light will turn ON and your security sensor light will go into warm up mode for about 40 sec. After 40 sec the light will turn OFF.
  5. Wait for another 20 seconds, then move across the detection area. The sensor will turn the light ON for Time set
(the minimum time is about 10+5sec.)
  6. To check the ‘add on time’ function, keep moving around in detection area. The light will stay ON until the sensor detects movement. Once no detection is made, the light will turn OFF (after expire of time after the last detection).
  7. Once you are happy with the performance of the sensor, secure the sensor arm by tightening the knuckle and screw.
  8. After initial testing is completed adjust the TIME, LUX dial and SENS dials to the desired level.
  9. Further adjustments may be required to maintain your security light at ideal LUX and SENSITIVITY level settings.
  • MANUAL MODE: (Sensor Override Function)
  • Manual Mode is used when you want your security light to stay permanently ON. In this mode the sensor function is disabled.
  • To turn the light permanently ON (disable AUTO Mode), turn the wall switch OFF/ON twice within 3 seconds.
  • The switch action is the following:Brilliant-22824-05-Single-Security-Light-With-Sensor-FIG-7

NOTE: If the wall switch action is done too slow ( more that 3 sec) the fitting may not enter into MANUAL MODE.
To change back to AUTO MODE, turn the wall switch OFF for about 15 seconds, then turn it back ON. The security light will now go back to WARM UP mode for 60 sec and turn the light ON. After 60 sec the light will turn ‘OFF’ and your security light will be in AUTO mode.
