BRC M600-M Power Optimizer Instructions

M600-M Power Optimizer

Product Information

Specifications:

  • Model: BRC Optimizer M600-M
  • Input Current Limit: 16A
  • Compatibility: Inverters with MPP input current (IMPP) of up to
    16A

Product Usage Instructions

Installation Guidelines:

  1. Ensure the inverter used has a MPP input current (IMPP) of 16A
    or less.
  2. Do not install the Power Optimizer M600-M on every pv module if
the inverter exceeds 16A; limit to a maximum of 50% of all pv
    modules per string.
  3. Avoid connecting strings or pv modules in parallel; connect
shaded pv modules to a separate string without parallel connections
    for optimization.
  4. Follow the sequence for connecting cables: first connect short
cables to the pv module, then connect long cables to the
    string.

Connection Steps:

  1. If a module is already connected on the string side, disconnect
    neighboring module connections.
  2. Connect short cables to the PV module, ensuring correct
    polarity.
  3. Connect long cables to the string side, also ensuring correct
    polarity.

Note: PV testing equipment cannot measure
current in a string where every module is equipped with an
optimizer. Use a current clamp for accurate measurements during
operation.

FAQ

Q: Can I use the Power Optimizer M600-M with any inverter?

A: The Power Optimizer M600-M is compatible
with inverters having an MPP input current (IMPP) of up to 16A.
Ensure your inverter meets this requirement for optimal
performance.

Q: How should I handle parallel connections of strings or pv
modules?

A: Avoid connecting strings or pv modules in
parallel. Connect shaded pv modules to a separate string without
parallel connections before equipping them with the Power Optimizer
M600-M.

Important instructions for planning and installation with BRC Optimizer M600-M
To correctly install the Power Optimizer M600-M and to avoid problems from the very beginning, please note the following introductions:
If an inverter with a MPP input current (IMPP) of more than 16A is used, it is not allowed to install the Power Optimizer M600-M at every pv module. In this case it is only allowed to equip a maximum of 50% of all pv modules of each string with a Power Optimizer M600-M. You can check if this is necessary with our inverter checker: https://brc-solar.de/en/power-optimizer-en/inverter-checker/
Do not use the Power Optimizer M600-M if strings or pv modules are connected in parallel! To avoid this situation, please connect all shaded pv modules to a separate string without a parallel connection. This string can then equipped with the Power Optimizer M600-M. In case of any further questions regarding those cases, please contact the support of BRC: (Tel.: +49 7243 924 1486 / E-Mail: support@brc-solar.de).
Always connect the Power Optimizer M600-M according to the following sequence: First connect the short cables to the pv module, then connect the long cables to the string.

1 If the module is already connected on the string side, disconnect the connections from the neighbouring modules.

2 First, connect the short cables to the PV module. Pay attention to the polarity.

3 The long cables are connected on the string side. Pay attention to the polarity.

Note: PV testing equipment cannot measure the current in a string where every module is
equipped with an optimizer. This is only possible by using a current clamp during operation. If a short circuit test is performed in a plant with M600-M optimizers, the test will not
provide usable results.
