Product Usage Instructions

Connections to be Made
Connect the Red & White RCA jacks to the AUX-IN jack.

Installing the AXHN-1
Ensure the AXHN-1 is installed correctly and fully functional. Do not connect the AXHN-1 harness to the wiring harness in the vehicle just yet.

Setting the Factory Clock
Use the buttons on the steering wheel to set the factory clock.

Programming the AXHN-1

  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. Connect the AXHN-1 harness to the wiring harness in the vehicle. The L.E.D. will initially be Green to indicate the interface is powered.
  3. The L.E.D. will turn on solid Red while the interface automatically programs to the vehicle. The radio will shut off at this point. This process should take 5 to 30 seconds.
  4. After programming, the LED will turn on solid Green, and the radio will come back on, indicating programming was successful.
  5. Test all functions for proper operation before reassembling the dash.

Troubleshooting
If the interface fails to function, reset it by following these steps:

  1. Locate the Blue reset button inside the Axxess interface.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for two seconds, then release to reset the interface.
  3. Refer to Programming the Axxess Interface from this point.

INTERFACE COMPONENTS

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping tool and connectors, or solder gun, solder, and heat shrink
  • Small flat-blade screwdriver
  • Tape
  • Wire cutter
  • Zip ties

CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE

From the 16-pin harness with stripped leads to the aftermarket radio: 

  • Connect the Red wire to the accessory wire.
  • Connect the Orange/White wire to the illumination wire. If the aftermarket radio does not have an illumination wire, tape it off and disregard it.
  • Tape off and disregard the Gray, Gray/Black, White, White/Black, and Brown wires; they will not be used in this application.

The following 3 wires are only for multimedia/navigation radios that require these wires.

  • Connect the Light Green wire to the parking brake wire (if applicable).
  • Connect the Blue/Pink wire to the VSS or speed sense wire (if applicable).
  • Connect the Green/Purple wire to the reverse wire (if applicable).

From the AXHN-1 harness to the aftermarket radio: 

  • Connect the Black wire to the ground wire.
  • Connect the Yellow wire to the battery wire.
  • If the vehicle is equipped with a factory amplifier, connect the Blue/White wire to the amp turn-on wire.
  • If the vehicle is equipped with a factory AUX-IN jack and desired to be retained, connect the Red & White RCA jacks to the AUX-IN jack.

For the following (8) wires, if the vehicle does not have a factory amplifier, cut off the RCA jacks to expose the speaker wires.

  • Connect the White wire to the left front positive speaker output.
  • Connect the White/Black wire to the left front negative speaker output.
  • Connect the Gray wire to the right front positive speaker output.
  • Connect the Gray/Black wire to the right front negative speaker output.
  • Connect the Green wire to the left rear positive speaker output.
  • Connect the Green/Black wire to the left rear negative speaker output.
  • Connect the Purple wire to the right rear positive speaker output.
  • Connect the Purple/Black wire to the right rear negative speaker output.

From the 8-pin subwoofer harness to the aftermarket radio (amplified models only):
Connect the White RCA to the subwoofer output.

12-pin pre-wired AXSWC harness:

  • This harness is to be used along with the optional AXSWC (not included) to retain steering wheel audio controls. If the AXSWC is not being used, disregard this harness. If it will be used, please refer to the AXSWC instructions for radio connections and programming. Disregard the harness that comes with the AXSWC.
  • For the CR-V 2014: If the vehicle is equipped with Bluetooth controls, and desired to be retained, connect the Gray/Blue wire to the Yellow wire (pin-15) in the 32-pin harness at the factory Bluetooth module located in the center of the dash, below the radio.

INSTALLING THE AXHN-1

With the key in the off position: 

  • Connect the 16-pin harness with stripped lead, and the AXHN-1 harness to the interface.
  • If an AXSWC (sold separately) will be used, do not connect it until the AXHN-1 is programmed and fully functional.
    Attention! Do not connect the AXHN-1 harness to the wiring harness in the vehicle just yet.

PROGRAMMING THE AXHN-1

For the steps below, the LLLED llocated insidethe interface can only be seen while active. The interface does not need to be opened to see the LED.

  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. Connect the AXHN-1 harness to the wiring harness in the vehicle. The L.E.D. will initially be Green to indicate the interface is powered.
  3. After a few seconds the L.E.D. will turn on solid Red while the interface automatically programs to the vehicle. The radio will shut off at this point. This process should take 5 to 30 seconds.
  4. After the interface is programmed, the LED will turn on solid Green, and the radio will come back on, indicating programming was successful.
  5. Test all functions of the installation for proper operation before reassembling the dash.
  6. If the interface fails to function, refer to “Troubleshooting”.

SETTING THE FACTORY CLOCK

The buttons on the steering wheel will be used to set the factory clock.

  • Press and hold the SOURCE button on the steering wheel for 15 seconds to access the clock setting mode.
  • Press SEEK-UP or SEEK-DOWN to select hours, minutes, etc. Press VOLUME-UP or VOLUME-DOWN to set the values.
  • Either press SOURCE again, or wait 5 seconds with no activity to exit the clock setting mode.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Resetting the Axxess interface 

  1. The Blue reset button is located inside the Axxess interface, between the two connectors. The button is accessible outside the Axxess interface, no need to open the Axxess interface.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for two seconds, then let go to reset the Axxess interface.
  3. Refer to “Programming the Axxess Interface” from this point.
