Quick Setup

  • Plan transmitter placement for the venue (installers may need to apply different mounting options to cover the venue optimally).
  • Before finalizing locations, perform a site walk during installation.
  • Use an Auri RX1 in commissioning mode (v1.4 FW release feature) to check signal coverage.
  • During the coverage-check phase, keep the venue empty.
  • After selecting transmitter locations, run a Quality of Service (QoS) test with the Auri RX1 in commissioning mode to verify adequate signal quality across the venue.
  • Connect to an available broadcast in the venue and repeat the QoS test for each one.
  • During testing, run all systems and services (e.g., Wi‑Fi) as they will be during normal use.

Introduction

  • Auri™ can be installed in any venue to enable hearing accessibility. To ensure optimal performance, consider the following installation guidelines.
  • Auri™ transmitters can cover a wide area within a venue. This application note, along with other resources, provides users and installers with guidance on how to install the Auri TX2N and TX2N-D for optimal coverage, placement, and location within the venue. It also offers examples to illustrate different scenarios.
  • Each venue will have slight differences, and there may be times when the installer needs to apply various mounting options to cover the venue optimally.

General Coverage

  • Auri™ transmitters have a coverage area of approximately 30-40 meters in any direction to achieve an RSSI of -70 dBm using the RX1 receiver.
  • Performance will be influenced by factors such as the venue layout and the density of people, among others.

Commissioning Tools

Radio Coverage

  • We recommend conducting a site walk during installation to ensure adequate signal coverage. Use an Auri RX1 in commissioning mode (v1.4 FW release feature).
  • The coverage tool is intended to be used as a guide for transmitter replacement prior to finalising the installation locations.
  • Note: The venue should be empty during this phase.

Audio Quality of Service
Conduct a quality-of-service test during installation using an Auri RX1 in commissioning mode (v1.4 FW release feature).

  • After selecting the transmitter locations, use the Quality of Service tool to verify adequate signal quality across the venue.
  • Connect to an available broadcast in the venue and repeat the test for each one.
  • Run all systems and services (e.g., Wi-Fi) as they would be during normal use.

Troubleshooting

  • Insufficient coverage: Conduct a site walk and use an Auri RX1 in commissioning mode to verify signal coverage; adjust placement/mounting options as needed, since venue layout and people density can affect performance.
  • Poor signal quality after placement: Use the QoS tool with an Auri RX1 in commissioning mode to verify signal quality across the venue, then repeat testing per available broadcast.
  • QoS/coverage results inconsistent with real use: Ensure all systems and services (e.g., Wi‑Fi) are running during testing, as they are expected to be during normal use.
