Important Notice Before Purchase

To ensure the August DVB482 Free view Recorder meets your expectations and is compatible with your setup, please review the following:

Compatibility

  • TV Connection: This recorder connects via HDMI, RCA, SCART. Please ensure your TV supports at least HDMI 1.3 or has a functional SCART and RCA port.
  • Signal Requirement: Requires a terrestrial rooftop aerial (not compatible Frees at or satellite dishes).
  • TV Type: Not compatible with TVs that do not support standard DVB-T (Free view) and DVB-T2 (Free view HD) channels.

Recording Functionality

  • No Series Link: This device records based on Live TV, Schedule, start time, and end time. It does not support Series Recording.
  • Simultaneous Functions: Allows watching one channel while recording another, as long as both channels are on the same multiplex.
  • USB Required: Recording and Time shift require a USB stick or external hard drive (FAT32, NTFS formatted).

EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)

  • Selecting a programme from the EPG may tune the box to that channel immediately. This is standard behavior.

Usage Complexity

  • Designed for users comfortable with setting recording schedules and navigating digital TV menus.
  • If you prefer automatic or smart recording features (like a Sky Q or YouView box), this product may not match your expectations.
  • This device is made to process traditional television signals and has no access to apps, catch-up websites or streaming services.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

1. My TV doesn’t detect the HDMI signal. What should I do?

• Make sure your TV input is set to the correct HDMI port. Consult your TV manual for instructions on how to set the source of your TV. • Try another HDMI cable or port if available. • If HDMI still fails, use the SCART output if your TV supports it. • Restart both the TV and the DVB482 after connecting. • Press the Yellow V-Format button on the DVB482 remote and wait 1 minute. Repeat this process a few times.

2: Why does the channel change when I open the EPG?

• The EPG retrieves data from the currently tuned channel. When selecting a channel in EPG, the unit switches a tuner to that channel to fetch programme data - this is normal behavior.

3: Can I record a whole TV series automatically?

• No. The DVB482 supports manual or single-event recordings only. • You can set recurring timed recordings by manually selecting the channel, start time, and end time.

4: How do I know if my TV is compatible?

• Your TV must have either an HDMI or SCART input and support Free view DVB-T T2 signals. • If your TV is older or has unique firmware, please consult your manufacturer or test with a Free view aerial first.

5: Recording seems too complicated. Is there a simpler way?

• For one-touch recording, press the REC button during live TV. • For scheduled recordings, use the EPG to select the programme, then press OK > Record. • For full control, go to Menu > Record > Timer Record or press the Blue Button

6: My recordings are missing or incomplete.

• Ensure the USB drive is inserted and formatted FAT32 or NTFS. • Check that the device is powered on during the scheduled recording period. • Avoid changing channels during the recording unless recording a different channel on the second tuner.
