ASRock BIOS Update Guide
To use the USB BIOS Instant Flash function, please follow the steps below.
- Save the BIOS files on a FAT32 formatted USB disk.
The USB drive must use the MBR partition style and be formatted as FAT32. - Press [F2] during POST to get into BIOS setup menu.
- Press [F9] to load UEFI default settings and confirm by pressing [Enter].
Press [F10] to save the changes and exit, and confirm by pressing [Enter].
After “Load UEFI Defaults” process, the RAID settings will also revert to their default state
If BitLocker is enabled, you may be required to enter the recovery key after updating the BIOS. It is recommended to keep your recovery key or turn off BitLocker before proceeding with the BIOS update. - Press [F2] during POST to get into BIOS setup menu.
- There are Two methods to update the BIOS using Instant Flash.
- Method 1: EZ Mode
Select [Instant Flash] in tool section to execute it.
- Method 2: Advanced Mode
If you are in EZ Mode, press “F6” to switch to Advanced Mode. Select the [Instant Flash] under [Tool] menu to execute it.

- Read the statements in the “Notice” section.
If you have not taken those precautions yet, click “No” to cancel, and follow those instructions. Note that the Windows PIN login method also can rely on the TPM. If you use this method, please select another login method temporarily. After preparing the system like this, resume at step 4.
If you have taken those precautions already, click “Yes” to continue. - ASRock Instant Flash will automatically detect all devices and only list those BIOS versions which are suitable for your motherboard.
If you see no files, please try the suggestions at the end of this guide (step 7b)
- Select the suitable BIOS version and click “Yes” to flash the BIOS.
- The system will start to flash the BIOS.
- Once the BIOS is flashed, it’ll show “Programing success, Press Enter to reboot system”.
Please click “OK” to reboot the system.
- After the system restarts, press [F2] to enter the BIOS setup utility during boot up.
In Exit menu, please select ” Load UEFI Defaults ” and press [Enter] to continue.
Select ” Save Changes and Exit ” and press [Enter] to exit the BIOS setup utility.
Now, the system is booting up with new BIOS.
If Instant Flash does not detect any files, you can try these steps:
- Verify the motherboard model in the BIOS main screen. Some models have similar names or revision numbers, and you might have accidentally downloaded the wrong file.
- Check the descriptions and remarks at the BIOS download page.
- Use a different USB flash drive
- Use a different USB port
- Remove all other storage devices: M.2 SSDs, SATA drives, card reader, etcetera
- Clear the CMOS (see user manual)
