4. Product Overview
Familiarize yourself with the components of your remote sensor:

Image 1: Front and rear view of the Newentor Wireless Remote Sensor. The front displays outdoor temperature and humidity, along with a transmit signal LED. The rear, with the battery cover removed, shows the °C/°F switch, "TX" switch, Channels switch, and the battery compartment for 2 AA batteries.
- Outdoor Temperature/Humidity Display: Shows current readings.
- Transmit Signal LED: Indicates when the sensor is transmitting data.
- Wall Hook: For mounting the sensor on a wall.
- °C/°F Switch: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
- "TX" Switch: Manually transmits data to the main unit.
- Channels Switch: Selects one of the three available transmission channels (1, 2, or 3).
- Battery Compartment: Holds 2 x AA batteries.
5. Installation and Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor.
- Insert 2 new AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Channel Selection
Before pairing, select a channel for your sensor:
- Locate the Channels switch inside the battery compartment (refer to Image 1).
- Slide the switch to select Channel 1, 2, or 3. If using multiple sensors, assign a unique channel to each.
5.3 Pairing with Main Unit
To connect the remote sensor to your Newentor weather station:
- Ensure the main weather station unit is powered on and within range.
- After installing batteries and selecting a channel on the remote sensor, press the "TX" button on the sensor to send a signal.
- On your main weather station unit, initiate a sensor search. This typically involves pressing and holding a specific button (e.g., a down-pointing triangle or "SCAN" button) for 3-5 seconds. Refer to your main weather station's manual for exact instructions.
- The main unit should display the temperature and humidity from the remote sensor on the selected channel.
5.4 Placement Guidelines
Proper placement ensures accurate readings and optimal wireless transmission:

Image 2: Examples of sensor placement, showing it on a tabletop and mounted on an exterior wall.
- Range: Place the sensor within 200ft/60m of the main unit. Obstacles like thick walls, metal structures, and electronic devices can reduce the transmission range.
- Outdoor Placement: For outdoor use, choose a shaded area to protect the sensor from direct sunlight and rain. While the sensor has some water resistance, prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions should be avoided to ensure accuracy and longevity.
- Mounting: Use the integrated wall hook for secure wall mounting or place it on a flat surface using its built-in stand.
- Interference: Avoid placing the sensor near large metal objects, electrical appliances, or other sources of electromagnetic interference.
6. Operation
6.1 Temperature Unit Selection
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F):
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Locate the °C/°F switch (refer to Image 1).
- Slide the switch to your desired temperature unit.
6.2 Monitoring Readings
Once paired, the remote sensor will continuously transmit temperature and humidity data to your main Newentor weather station. The readings will be displayed on the sensor's screen and the corresponding channel on your main unit.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the sensor or main unit shows low power, replace the batteries:
- Remove the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the old batteries and dispose of them properly.
- Insert 2 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the cover. The sensor will automatically re-establish connection with the main unit.
7.2 Cleaning
Wipe the sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or internal components.
7.3 Environmental Protection
Although designed for outdoor use, protect the sensor from extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rain, snow, or direct prolonged sunlight, to maintain accuracy and extend its lifespan.
8. Troubleshooting
- No readings on main unit:
- Ensure batteries are correctly installed in both the sensor and main unit.
- Verify the sensor's channel matches the selected channel on the main unit.
- Press the "TX" button on the sensor to manually transmit.
- Initiate a sensor search on the main unit (refer to its manual).
- Reduce the distance between the sensor and main unit, and remove any potential obstructions.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the sensor is not in direct sunlight or exposed to extreme heat/cold sources.
- Check for proper ventilation around the sensor.
- Replace batteries if they are low.
- Sensor stopped working after getting wet:
- The sensor is water-resistant, not waterproof. Avoid direct exposure to heavy rain or submersion. If wet, allow it to dry completely before attempting to use it again. Consider relocating to a more sheltered spot.
