1. Product Overview
The Smart-Home SBLYU01-40v5 is a connected Residual Current Operated Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent protection (RCBO) designed for comprehensive electrical safety. It integrates 30mA Type A & AC differential protection, overload protection, and short-circuit protection, conforming to EN 61009-1 standards. Featuring Wi-Fi connectivity via the Tuya platform, this device allows remote monitoring and management of your electrical system through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. It provides real-time electrical data including voltage, current, power, temperature, and energy consumption. The current is adjustable from 1A to 40A, enabling precise protection tailored to connected appliances. Customizable thresholds for overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overpower, and overtemperature are available via the app. Its automatic reclosing function can attempt up to three reclosures after a fault clears. All parameters are stored locally, ensuring protection and reclosing functions remain active even without internet or Wi-Fi connection. This compact, two-DIN-module RCBO is suitable for residential, commercial, and smart home installations requiring intelligent electrical protection and remote supervision.

4. Installation
The Smart RCBO is designed for DIN rail mounting. Install the device at the head of the row in your electrical panel. Ensure that the main circuit breaker of the installation has several electrical distribution branches.
Figure 4.1: Installation context showing the RCBO in an electrical panel and steps for connecting to the Tuya Smart app.
Wiring Instructions:
- Ensure all power is disconnected at the main supply before beginning installation.
- Mount the RCBO onto a standard DIN rail in your electrical distribution board.
- Connect the incoming phase (live) wire to the "Phase input" terminal and the incoming neutral wire to the "Neutral input" terminal.
- Connect the outgoing phase (live) wire to the "Phase output" terminal and the outgoing neutral wire to the "Neutral output" terminal, leading to your protected circuits.
- Ensure all connections are secure and tightened appropriately.
Note: The connection terminals are designed for rigid cables. If using flexible cables, ensure they are properly crimped with ferrules to ensure a secure connection, as some users have noted that rigid cable connections can be loose if not properly secured.
5. Setup and Configuration (Tuya Smart App)
5.1. App Download and Account Creation
Download the "Tuya Smart" app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Create an account or log in if you already have one.
You can download the app using this link: Tuya Smart App
5.2. Connecting the RCBO to Wi-Fi
- Ensure the RCBO is powered on.
- Press and hold the Pairing button on the circuit breaker for approximately 5 seconds until the LED indicator flashes rapidly. This indicates the device is in pairing mode.
- Open the Tuya Smart app on your smartphone.
- On the homepage of Tuya Smart, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
- Select "Add Device".
- Navigate to the "Electrical menu" and select the "Breaker (Wi-Fi)" icon.
- Enter the name of your Wi-Fi network (SSID) and its password. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Tap "Next".
- Confirm that the device's LED is blinking rapidly.
- Wait for the app to add the device. Once complete, the LED will stop flashing and remain solid, and the app will display "Done".
5.3. Initial App Settings
Once connected, you can access the device settings within the Tuya Smart app. This includes:
- Parameter Settings: Adjust overvoltage, undervoltage, nominal current, high temperature threshold, overpower value, and leakage current settings.
- Automatic Reclosing: Activate or deactivate the automatic reclosing function.
- Energy Monitoring: View real-time and historical data for voltage, current, power, and energy consumption.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Manual Operation
- Switching ON/OFF: Use the locking lever to manually switch the RCBO ON or OFF.
- Test Button: Periodically press the "Test" button to verify the differential protection function. The breaker should trip immediately. Reset it manually after the test.
6.2. Automatic Reclosing Mode
The Smart RCBO can automatically reclose the circuit after an electrical fault. This function is particularly useful for temporary faults that clear themselves.
Figure 6.1: Diagram illustrating the automatic reclosing sequence. The device attempts to reclose up to three times after a fault. If the fault persists, it remains open. If the circuit stabilizes for 15 minutes, the system resets.
- The device will attempt to reclose up to three times after an electrical fault (e.g., leakage, overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overpower).
- Each reclosing attempt is typically followed by a 30-second delay.
- If the fault persists after three attempts, the circuit remains open for safety.
- If the circuit remains stable for 15 minutes after a trip, the reclosing counter resets, and the system is ready for a new sequence of reclosing attempts.
- This function can be enabled or disabled via the Tuya Smart app (refer to Section 5.3).
Important: In cases of excessive temperature or short circuit, automatic reclosing may be prevented for safety reasons.
6.3. Remote Control and Monitoring (Tuya Smart App)
- Remote ON/OFF: Switch the RCBO on or off remotely through the app.
- Real-time Data: View live voltage, current, power, and temperature readings.
- Energy Consumption: Monitor daily, monthly, and yearly energy consumption statistics.
- Notifications: Receive alerts for trips, overloads, or other fault conditions.
- Protection Thresholds: Adjust settings for overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overpower, and overtemperature directly from the app.
7. Maintenance
- Regular Testing: Press the "Test" button on the RCBO at least once every six months to ensure the differential protection mechanism is functioning correctly.
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Firmware Updates: Check the Tuya Smart app periodically for any available firmware updates for your device to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Connection Check: Periodically inspect wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and secure.
