5. Setup Instructions

5.1 Installing an M.2 NVMe SSD

  1. Gently slide open the enclosure cover to access the internal M.2 slot.
  2. Carefully insert your M.2 NVMe SSD into the slot at an angle. Ensure the notch on the SSD aligns with the key in the slot.
  3. Press down the SSD and secure it with the provided fastener (if applicable, usually a screw or tool-free clip).
  4. Slide the enclosure cover back into place until it clicks securely.

Note: Ensure the SSD is an M.2 NVMe type. M.2 SATA SSDs are not compatible.

5.2 Connecting to a Host Device

  1. Connect one end of the provided USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the AC10 enclosure.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB-C port on your laptop, tablet, smartphone, or gaming console.
  3. The enclosure's touchscreen will power on and display connection status, speed, and other metrics.
  4. Your operating system should automatically detect the new storage device. You may need to initialize and format the SSD if it's new before use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Monitoring Status via Touchscreen

The touchscreen display provides real-time feedback on your SSD's operation:

  • Transfer Speed: Shows current read/write speeds during data operations.
  • Connection Status: Indicates if the enclosure is properly connected to a host device.

6.2 Using the Touch Lock Function

To lock or unlock access to your SSD:

  1. Tap the lock icon on the touchscreen.
  2. Enter your pre-set PIN code using the on-screen keypad.
  3. Confirm your entry to lock or unlock the device.

Note: Refer to the initial setup guide for setting up your PIN code. If no PIN is set, the lock function may not be active.

6.3 Data Transfer

Once connected and recognized by your operating system, you can transfer files to and from the SSD as you would with any external drive. Drag and drop files, or use your system's copy/paste functions.

6.4 Power Delivery Charging

When the AC10 is connected to a compatible host device and a power source (via its USB-C port), it can pass through up to 100W of power to charge your host device. Ensure your power adapter and cable support 100W PD for optimal performance.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the MOVE SPEED official website periodically for any available firmware updates for improved performance or features.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Enclosure Not Detected

  • Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and the host device.
  • Try a different USB-C port on your host device.
  • Test with a different USB-C cable.
  • Verify that an M.2 NVMe SSD is correctly installed inside the enclosure.
  • Check your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to see if the drive is detected but uninitialized/unformatted.

8.2 Slow Transfer Speeds

  • Ensure your host device's USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps). Older USB versions will result in lower speeds.
  • Confirm you are using a 10Gbps-rated USB-C cable.
  • The actual speed depends on the SSD's performance. Ensure your M.2 NVMe SSD is capable of high speeds.
  • Large numbers of small files transfer slower than a single large file of the same total size.
  • Monitor the temperature on the touchscreen; high temperatures can sometimes lead to thermal throttling.

8.3 Touchscreen Not Responding

  • Disconnect and reconnect the enclosure to power cycle it.
  • Ensure the screen is clean and free from debris.

8.4 100W PD Charging Not Working

  • Ensure your power adapter supports 100W Power Delivery.
  • Ensure the USB-C cable used is rated for 100W PD.
  • Verify your host device supports USB-C PD input.
