4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to install your Husky Glacier ARGB 240mm Water Cooler.

4.1 Prepare the Radiator and Fans

Figure 4.1: Radiator Component

  1. Attach the two 120mm ARGB fans to the radiator using the provided fan screws. Ensure the fan airflow direction is appropriate for your case (typically blowing air through the radiator and out of the case, or into the case for intake).
  2. Connect the fan power cables to the fan headers on your motherboard or a fan controller.
  3. Connect the ARGB cables from the fans to the ARGB splitter cable, then connect the splitter to a 3-pin 5V ARGB header on your motherboard.

4.2 Install the CPU Mounting Bracket

Select the appropriate mounting bracket for your CPU socket (Intel or AMD).

For Intel Sockets (LGA1700/1200/115X/2011/2066):

  1. Install the Intel backplate behind your motherboard, aligning the holes with the CPU socket mounting holes.
  2. Secure the standoffs through the motherboard and into the backplate.
  3. Attach the Intel mounting arms to the pump block.

For AMD Sockets (AM5/AM4/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/FM2+/FM2/FM1):

  1. Remove the stock AMD retention clips from the motherboard, but keep the original backplate.
  2. Secure the AMD standoffs directly into the original AMD backplate.
  3. Attach the AMD mounting arms to the pump block.

4.3 Mount the Pump Block

Figure 4.2: Assembled Water Cooler

  1. Clean the CPU surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove any old thermal paste or residue.
  2. Apply a small pea-sized amount of the provided thermal paste to the center of your CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS).
  3. Carefully place the pump block onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes with the standoffs.
  4. Secure the pump block with the provided thumb screws, tightening them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.

4.4 Mount the Radiator

  1. Mount the radiator and attached fans to an available 240mm fan mount location in your PC case (e.g., top, front, or rear).
  2. Use the longer radiator mounting screws to secure the radiator to the case.

4.5 Connect Cables

Figure 4.4: Pump and Fans with ARGB

  1. Connect the pump's 3-pin power cable to a CPU_FAN or AIO_PUMP header on your motherboard. Ensure this header provides full power to the pump.
  2. Connect the pump's ARGB cable to the same 3-pin 5V ARGB header as the fans, or to a separate ARGB header if available and desired for independent control.
  3. Route all cables neatly to avoid interference with other components or airflow.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the Husky Glacier ARGB 240mm Water Cooler operates automatically to cool your CPU.

5.1 Initial Power-On

After completing the installation, power on your computer. The pump and fans should start spinning, and the ARGB lighting should illuminate. It is normal to hear some gurgling sounds initially as air bubbles are purged from the loop; this should subside within a few minutes of operation.

5.2 Temperature Display

Figure 5.1: Pump Temperature Display

The pump block features an integrated display that shows the current coolant temperature. This provides a direct indication of the cooling performance. The ARGB lighting around the display may also change color based on temperature, providing a visual cue.

5.3 ARGB Control

The ARGB lighting on the fans and pump can be controlled via your motherboard's ARGB software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync). Ensure your motherboard's software is up-to-date to access all lighting effects and synchronization options.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your water cooler.

  • Dust Cleaning: Periodically inspect the radiator fins and fan blades for dust accumulation. Use compressed air or a soft brush to gently remove dust. Excessive dust can impede airflow and reduce cooling efficiency.
  • Tubing Inspection: Occasionally check the tubing for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage. While the system is sealed, visual inspection is recommended.
  • Fan Operation: Ensure both fans are spinning freely and quietly. If a fan becomes noisy or stops spinning, it may need replacement.
  • Coolant: This is a closed-loop system and does not require coolant refills or maintenance. Do not attempt to open the pump or radiator.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your water cooler, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump or Fans not spinningLoose power connection, incorrect header, faulty componentCheck all power cables are securely connected to the motherboard. Ensure the pump is connected to a dedicated AIO_PUMP or CPU_FAN header. Check BIOS settings for fan/pump control.
High CPU temperaturesImproper thermal paste application, loose pump block, insufficient airflow, pump failureRe-apply thermal paste and ensure pump block is securely mounted. Check fan orientation and clear any dust from the radiator. Verify pump is running.
ARGB lighting not workingIncorrect ARGB header, loose connection, software issueEnsure ARGB cables are connected to a 3-pin 5V ARGB header (not 4-pin 12V RGB). Check connections. Update or reinstall motherboard ARGB software.
Unusual noise (gurgling, grinding)Air bubbles in loop, fan bearing noise, pump noiseGurgling usually subsides after initial use. If persistent, gently tilt the PC case to help dislodge air bubbles. If grinding, check fans for obstruction or contact support.
