1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Baotree 62cc Gas Powered 3-in-1 String Trimmer and Brush Cutter. This versatile tool is designed for various lawn and garden tasks, including grass trimming, weed removal, and brush cutting. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the equipment to ensure proper use and to prevent injury or damage.
2. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.
General Safety Precautions:
- Read the Manual: Understand all instructions and warnings before use.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, long pants, and sturdy, non-slip footwear. A safety helmet is recommended for brush cutting.
- Work Area: Keep children, bystanders, and pets at a safe distance (at least 50 feet/15 meters) from the operating area. Clear the work area of debris, rocks, and other objects that could be thrown.
- Fuel Handling: Mix and store fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks or open flames. Do not smoke while handling fuel. Allow the engine to cool before refueling.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the tool for loose parts, damaged components, or fuel leaks. Do not operate if damaged.
- Secure Grip: Maintain a firm grip on the handles with both hands during operation.
- Avoid Kickback: Be aware of potential kickback when using blades, especially in dense material.
- Engine Shut-off: Know how to stop the engine quickly in an emergency. The safety lock on the handle prevents accidental triggering.
- Weather Conditions: Do not operate in wet conditions or rain.

4. Assembly and Setup
Follow these steps to assemble your string trimmer/brush cutter. Refer to Figure 3.1 for component identification.
4.1 Attaching the Shaft and Handle:
- Connect the steel shaft to the engine power head. Ensure it clicks securely into place or is tightened according to the specific connection mechanism (e.g., screw or clamp).
- Attach the rubber D-handle to the steel shaft at a comfortable operating position. Tighten the handle securely using the provided fasteners.
4.2 Installing the Debris Shield:
- Slide the debris shield onto the lower end of the shaft, ensuring it is oriented correctly to protect against flying debris.
- Secure the debris shield firmly with the provided screws or bolts.
4.3 Attaching Cutting Attachments:
The tool supports three cutting attachments: string trimmer head, 3-tooth blade, and 40-tooth saw blade. Always ensure the engine is off and the spark plug cap is disconnected before changing attachments.
For String Trimmer Head:
- Align the string trimmer head with the shaft's output spindle.
- Thread the head onto the spindle, turning clockwise until it is hand-tight. Use a wrench if necessary to fully secure it.
For 3-Tooth or 40-Tooth Blades:
- Remove the string trimmer head if attached.
- Place the desired blade onto the spindle, ensuring it sits flat against the mounting flange.
- Install the blade washer and nut, tightening the nut firmly with the provided wrench. Ensure the blade is securely fastened and cannot wobble.
4.4 Attaching the Shoulder Strap:
Attach the adjustable shoulder strap to the designated loop on the shaft. Adjust the strap length to balance the tool comfortably and reduce arm fatigue during operation.
5. Fuel Mixing
This tool is powered by a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific gasoline-to-engine oil mixture. Using incorrect fuel or mix ratio will damage the engine and void the warranty.
Fuel Mix Ratio: 25:1 (Gasoline to 2-Stroke Engine Oil)
- Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher.
- Use high-quality 2-stroke engine oil specifically designed for air-cooled engines.
- Use the provided fuel mixing bottle for accurate measurement.
- Pour the required amount of 2-stroke oil into the mixing bottle first, then add gasoline up to the corresponding mark for a 25:1 ratio.
- Securely close the bottle and shake it thoroughly to ensure the fuel and oil are completely mixed.
- Always mix fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources.
- Store mixed fuel in an approved container, clearly labeled, and out of reach of children.

6. Operating Instructions
Before starting, ensure all safety precautions are followed and the correct cutting attachment is securely installed.
6.1 Starting the Engine:
- Place the tool on a flat, stable surface.
- Fill the fuel tank with the correctly mixed fuel (refer to Section 5).
- Set the choke lever to the 'CLOSED' or 'START' position.
- Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine attempts to start or fires once. Do not pull the cord to its full extension.
- Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the 'OPEN' or 'RUN' position.
- Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before engaging the throttle.
6.2 Stopping the Engine:
Release the throttle trigger and allow the engine to idle down. Press the engine stop switch to the 'OFF' position.
6.3 Using the String Trimmer Head:
Ideal for grass trimming and light edging.
- Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands, maintaining balance.
- Keep the string head parallel to the ground for even cutting.
- Move the trimmer in a sweeping motion from side to side.
- To advance the cutting line, tap the bump feed head gently on the ground while the engine is running at full throttle.

6.4 Using the 3-Tooth Brush Blade:
Suitable for cutting thick grass and stubborn weeds.
- Ensure the blade is securely attached and the debris shield is in place.
- Approach the material to be cut slowly and deliberately.
- Use a steady, controlled motion, cutting from right to left to direct debris away from you.
- Avoid hitting hard objects like rocks or metal.

6.5 Using the 40-Tooth Saw Blade:
Designed for tackling dense brush, small branches, and heavy overgrowth.
- Exercise extreme caution when using this blade. Wear full PPE, including a face shield and heavy gloves.
- Always maintain a firm grip and stable footing.
- Cut with the lower part of the blade, using a controlled, sweeping motion.
- Be aware of potential kickback, especially when cutting thicker branches.
- Do not attempt to cut material thicker than the blade's capacity.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool. Always ensure the engine is off and cool, and the spark plug cap is disconnected before performing any maintenance.
7.1 Cleaning:
- After each use, clean the exterior of the tool with a damp cloth.
- Remove any grass, dirt, or debris from the cutting head, debris shield, and engine cooling fins.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
7.2 Air Filter:
- Check the air filter regularly (every 5-10 hours of operation).
- Remove the air filter cover and carefully remove the filter element.
- Clean foam filters with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry completely before re-oiling lightly with 2-stroke oil.
- Replace paper filters if heavily soiled or damaged.
7.3 Spark Plug:
- Inspect the spark plug every 20-30 hours of operation.
- Remove the spark plug using a spark plug wrench.
- Clean any carbon deposits with a wire brush.
- Check the electrode gap and adjust if necessary (refer to specifications for correct gap).
- Replace the spark plug if it is heavily fouled, damaged, or worn.
7.4 Cutting Attachments:
- String Trimmer Head: Replace the cutting line when it runs out. Refer to the head's specific instructions for reloading.
- Blades (3-Tooth & 40-Tooth): Inspect blades for dullness, nicks, or cracks before each use. Sharpen dull blades or replace damaged ones. Always use genuine replacement parts.
