Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from your new Cuisinart electric kettle. Ensure all components are present: the glass kettle and its power base.

Initial Cleaning

Before first use, it is recommended to clean the kettle. Fill the kettle with water to the MAX fill line (1.7L). Bring the water to a boil (212°F) and then discard it. Repeat this process once or twice to ensure the kettle is thoroughly cleaned. The interior can also be washed with hot, soapy water, rinsed, and dried.

Placement

Place the power base on a dry, flat, heat-resistant surface. Unwind the power cord from the base to the desired length. The base features a built-in wraparound storage feature to keep any extra cord neatly tucked away, preventing clutter and potential hazards.

Operating Instructions

Filling the Kettle

  1. Ensure the kettle is unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Press the lid release button to open the hinged lid. The lid opens easily with one hand for effortless filling.
  3. Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water. Observe the water level markings on the side of the glass body. Do not fill below the MIN 0.24L mark or above the MAX 1.7L mark. Overfilling may cause boiling water to spill out.
  4. Close the lid securely until it clicks into place.

Heating Water

  1. Place the filled kettle firmly onto its power base. Ensure it is properly seated.
  2. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. Temperature Selection: Use the intuitive touchscreen control panel on the handle to select your desired temperature. The display shows the current temperature. Tap the "SET TEMP" button to cycle through available temperatures from 110°F to 212°F, or select the "BOIL" option for 212°F.
  4. Start Heating: Press the "START/STOP" button to begin the heating process. A blue illumination ring at the base of the kettle will light up, indicating that the kettle is actively heating.
  5. The kettle will automatically shut off once the selected temperature is reached. The blue illumination will turn off.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. The exterior can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the finish. The interior can be cleaned with hot, soapy water and a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly.

Descaling

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle over time, especially in hard water areas. To descale:

  1. Fill the kettle with a solution of 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water.
  2. Bring the solution to a boil and let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or longer if the buildup is significant.
  3. Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times.
  4. Alternatively, use a commercially available descaling solution designed for electric kettles, following the product's instructions.

Storage

When not in use, store the kettle on its power base in a dry, clean place. The cord can be wrapped around the base for neat storage.

Troubleshooting

  • Kettle does not heat: Ensure the kettle is properly seated on its base and the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check if the "START/STOP" button has been pressed.
  • Kettle shuts off prematurely: This may indicate a boil-dry safety feature activation if there was insufficient water. Ensure water levels are between MIN and MAX lines.
  • Water tastes unusual: Perform initial cleaning steps again. Descale the kettle if mineral buildup is present.
  • Lid is difficult to open: The lid may be stiff when new. It should loosen with regular use.
