5. Setup
5.1 Charging the Device
Before initial use, fully charge the BSIDE UP1 probe. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the probe's charging port and to a standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The power indicator LED will show charging status.

5.2 Connecting to an Oscilloscope
- Ensure both the oscilloscope and the current clamp probe are powered off.
- Connect the BNC connector of the current clamp probe to an input channel (e.g., CH1) on your oscilloscope.
- Power on the oscilloscope and then the current clamp probe.
- Configure the oscilloscope channel settings:
- Set the input coupling to DC.
- Adjust the vertical scale (Volts/Div) according to the selected range on the current probe (e.g., 10mV/A or 100mV/A). For 100mV/A, 1V on the oscilloscope corresponds to 10A. For 10mV/A, 1V on the oscilloscope corresponds to 100A.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Powering On/Off
Press and hold the power button on the probe to turn it on or off. The power LED will illuminate when the device is on.
6.2 Selecting Measurement Range
The probe offers two measurement ranges: 100mV/A (for lower currents, up to 20A DC or 15A AC) and 10mV/A (for higher currents, up to 100A DC or AC). Use the range switch on the probe to select the appropriate sensitivity for your measurement. Remember to adjust the oscilloscope's vertical scale accordingly.
6.3 Zero Adjustment
Zero adjustment is critical for accurate DC current measurements. Before measuring, ensure no current is flowing through the clamp. Press the 'ZERO' button on the probe. The output on the oscilloscope should settle to 0V. Repeat this process if the range is changed.
Important: Do not press the 'ZERO' button while current is flowing through the clamp. This can lead to inaccurate readings or damage.
6.4 Performing a Measurement
- Ensure the probe is connected to the oscilloscope and powered on.
- Select the appropriate measurement range (100mV/A or 10mV/A) on the probe.
- Perform zero adjustment as described in Section 6.3.
- Open the clamp jaws and position the conductor (wire) carrying the current to be measured within the center of the jaws. Ensure the jaws are fully closed.
- Observe the current waveform on the oscilloscope. The voltage displayed on the oscilloscope will correspond to the current based on the selected range (e.g., 100mV/A means 100mV = 1A).

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the probe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off before cleaning.
7.2 Battery Care
The BSIDE UP1 features a rechargeable battery. To prolong battery life:
- Recharge the battery when the 'LO BAT' indicator illuminates.
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to approximately 50% every few months.
7.3 Storage
Store the probe in its protective EVA carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the device is powered off before storage.
8. Troubleshooting
- No reading on oscilloscope:
- Check if the probe is powered on and the battery is charged.
- Ensure the BNC cable is securely connected to both the probe and the oscilloscope.
- Verify the oscilloscope channel settings (DC coupling, appropriate Volts/Div).
- Confirm the conductor is properly placed within the clamp jaws and the jaws are fully closed.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Perform zero adjustment before measurement.
- Ensure the correct range (100mV/A or 10mV/A) is selected on the probe and matched on the oscilloscope.
- Check for external magnetic fields that might interfere with the measurement.
- 'LO BAT' indicator is on:
- The battery is low. Recharge the device using the provided USB cable.
