Setup
Mounting the Scope
The SH4J GEN2 scope features a 34mm main tube, compatible with Picatinny and Weaver style mounts. Ensure your chosen rings are of the correct diameter and height for your rifle and preferred cheek weld. Securely mount the scope, ensuring proper eye relief and reticle levelness before tightening all screws to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
Diopter Adjustment
To achieve a clear reticle image, adjust the diopter ring located at the eyepiece. Look through the scope at a plain, bright background (like the sky) and rotate the diopter ring until the reticle appears sharp and in focus. Avoid looking at a target during this adjustment, as your eye may try to compensate for target focus instead of reticle focus.
AZS Zero Stop System
The AZS Zero Stop system allows for a quick and reliable return to your established zero. After zeroing your rifle, follow these steps to set the zero stop:
- Loosen the set screws on the elevation turret.
- Rotate the turret until it stops at your desired zero position.
- Tighten the set screws to secure the zero stop.

Parallax Adjustment
The side knob parallax adjustment allows for quick and easy parallax correction. Rotate the parallax knob until the target appears clear and the reticle does not shift relative to the target when you move your head slightly. Range numbers are visible on the knob for reference.

Operating the Scope
Magnification Adjustment
The SH4J GEN2 offers a magnification range of 6-24x. Rotate the magnification ring, located at the eyepiece, to adjust the power. As this is a First Focal Plane (FFP) scope, the reticle will grow and shrink proportionally with the target image, ensuring that subtensions remain accurate at all magnification settings.
Elevation and Windage Turrets
The scope features precise elevation and windage turrets with audible 0.1 MIL clicks. Each click represents a specific adjustment to the point of impact. The turrets are clearly marked for easy tracking of adjustments. The AZS Zero Stop ensures you can always return to your established zero quickly.

Illuminated VHR-MIL Reticle
The VHR-MIL reticle is designed for clear target visibility, especially in hunting environments. Its open design ensures the point of impact and target remain unobstructed. The reticle features multiple illumination settings to adapt to various lighting conditions. The illumination control is typically located on the parallax knob or a separate turret.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Lenses
Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and loose debris from the lenses. For smudges or fingerprints, use a clean microfiber cloth and a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optical surfaces. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the lens coatings.
General Care
The scope is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum, O-ring sealed, and nitrogen purged for waterproof and fogproof performance. While durable, avoid unnecessary impacts. Store the scope in a protective case when not in use. Regularly check all mounting screws for proper torque.
Troubleshooting
Unclear Image
- Ensure the diopter is correctly adjusted for your eye.
- Adjust the parallax knob to match the target distance.
- Check for dirt or smudges on the lenses and clean as necessary.
Point of Impact Shift
- Verify that the scope is securely mounted and all screws are tightened to specification.
- Check if the rifle mount itself is secure.
- Ensure the zero stop is properly engaged if applicable.
Reticle Illumination Not Working
- Check the battery and replace if necessary.
- Ensure the illumination control is turned on and set to a visible level.
