Setup and Installation

Pre-Installation Notes:
To prevent detachment during riding, the clearance between the case body and the base plate is intentionally minimal. This means initial attachment and detachment may feel stiff. For optimal fitting, we recommend the following:
- Attach the top case body to the universal base plate.
- Leave the assembled unit for approximately 24 hours.
- Perform several attachment and detachment cycles to allow the components to settle and achieve the best fit.
Installation Procedure:
- If using a separate fitting kit (not included), please note that drilling may be required on the vehicle's exterior parts. Follow the specific instructions provided with your fitting kit carefully. SHAD is not responsible for issues arising from vehicle-side modifications.
- Before fully tightening any screws, ensure that the fitting kit is correctly installed and all components are properly aligned.
- When installing the fitting kit to your motorcycle, first temporarily attach the universal base plate to the fitting kit. Then, secure the entire fitting kit assembly to the motorcycle.
- After completing the installation, check the tightness of all screws every four months to ensure continued security.
Recommendation: Professional installation is highly recommended for safety and proper fitment.
Operating Instructions
Opening and Closing the Case:
- The TR46 TERRA top case features a user-friendly locking mechanism that allows for one-hand operation.
- To open or close the case without using the key, ensure the key is in the "OPEN" position. This enables keyless access.
Attaching and Detaching from Base Plate:
To attach or detach the top case from the universal base plate, operate the integrated handle and locking mechanism as instructed in the pre-installation notes. Ensure a secure click indicates proper attachment.
Maintenance
Key Cylinder Lubrication:
To maintain smooth operation of the key cylinder and prevent wear, it is recommended to apply a rust-preventative lubricant to the keyhole approximately once every six months. This will ensure easy opening and closing of your top case over time.
Cleaning:
Clean the exterior of the top case with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Troubleshooting
Stiff Attachment/Detachment:
If you experience stiffness when attaching or detaching the top case from the base plate, refer to the "Pre-Installation Notes" in the Setup section. This is normal initially due to minimal clearance designed for security. Allowing the case to sit on the base plate for 24 hours and performing several attachment/detachment cycles should resolve this.
Key Cylinder Issues:
If the key cylinder becomes difficult to operate, apply a rust-preventative lubricant as described in the Maintenance section.
