4. Operation
4.1 Adjusting Magnification
The FalconPro Elite offers a variable magnification from 25x to 75x. To adjust the magnification:
- Rotate the Magnification Zoom Wheel (located on the eyepiece) to your desired power.
- Start with lower magnification (25x) for a wider field of view to locate your subject, then gradually increase to higher magnification for more detail.
Figure 4.1: Illustrates the visual difference between 25x, 50x, and 75x magnification, showing how the scope brings distant objects closer.
4.2 Focusing
The scope features a dual-speed focus system for precise adjustments:
- Quick Focus Knob: Use this larger knob for rapid, coarse adjustments to bring the image into general focus.
- Precision Focus Knob: Use this smaller knob for fine-tuning the focus, achieving maximum clarity and sharpness.

4.3 Eyecup Adjustment
The twist-up eyecup allows for comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses. Twist the eyecup up or down until you achieve a full field of view without vignetting (darkening around the edges).

4.4 Objective Lens Benefits
The 85mm objective lens gathers significantly more light than smaller lenses, providing brighter and clearer images, especially in low-light conditions like dawn or dusk.

5. Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your spotting scope.
5.1 Cleaning the Lenses
- Always use the provided lens cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses.
- Gently brush off any loose dust or debris from the lens surfaces using a soft brush or a blower bulb.
- If necessary, apply a small amount of lens cleaning fluid to the cloth (not directly to the lens) and wipe the lens in a circular motion, starting from the center and moving outwards.
- Avoid touching the lens surfaces with your fingers, as oils can leave smudges.
5.2 General Care and Storage
- When not in use, always replace the lens caps to protect the objective and eyepiece lenses from dust and scratches.
- Store the spotting scope in its carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- The scope is nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed, making it waterproof and fog-proof. However, avoid prolonged submersion in water.
- Wipe down the exterior of the scope with a damp cloth to remove dirt or grime after outdoor use.

6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Image is blurry or out of focus. | Incorrect focus adjustment. | Use both the Quick Focus and Precision Focus knobs to achieve sharp focus. Ensure the eyecup is adjusted correctly for your vision. |
| Dark edges (vignetting) in the view. | Eyecup not properly adjusted or eye not positioned correctly. | Adjust the twist-up eyecup until you see a full, clear field of view. Ensure your eye is centered with the eyepiece. |
| Image appears dim or dark. | Low light conditions, dirty lenses, or lens caps still on. | Ensure lens caps are removed. Clean lenses if dirty. The 85mm objective lens is designed for good low-light performance, but extreme darkness will limit visibility. |
| Unstable image, especially at high magnification. | Tripod not stable or not tightened properly. | Ensure the scope is securely mounted to the tripod and all tripod adjustments are tightened. Use on a flat, stable surface. |
| Cannot align phone camera with eyepiece. | Phone adapter not correctly positioned. | Carefully adjust the phone's position within the adapter and the adapter's position on the eyepiece until the camera lens is perfectly centered with the scope's exit pupil. |
