3. Setup
Battery Installation
The KTL01-JP requires two 1.5V AAA batteries (included). Follow these steps to install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery cover at the top end of the tester.

- Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks securely.

Power On/Off

To detect AC voltage:
- Turn on the tester.
- Place the NCV sensor tip near the conductor (e.g., outlet, insulated cable).
- If AC voltage is detected, the signal indicator LED will light up red, an audible beep will sound, and the LCD screen will display the signal strength as a percentage and bar graph. The frequency of the beep and the number of bars on the display will increase with higher voltage or closer proximity to the source.
Live/Neutral Line Check

The tester can automatically identify live and neutral lines:
- When the NCV sensor is placed near a live wire, the tester will emit a rapid beep and the signal indicator will light up red. The LCD will show a high percentage and red backlight.
- When placed near a neutral wire, the tester will emit a slower beep or no beep, and the signal indicator may light up green (depending on the model and interference). The LCD will show a lower percentage or no reading and a green backlight.
Breakpoint Detection

To locate a breakpoint in an insulated wire:
- Ensure the wire is connected to a power source.
- Move the NCV sensor along the length of the insulated wire.
- The tester will indicate voltage (red light, beeping, LCD display) up to the point of the break. The signal will stop or significantly decrease past the breakpoint.
Flashlight Operation
