4.2. Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the light meter. Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the charging port on the device and plug the other end into a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. The status indicator will show charging progress and turn off or change color when fully charged. Charging typically takes about 1 hour.
4.3. Mounting the Light Meter
- Ensure your camera is turned off.
- Slide the cold shoe mount of the light meter into your camera's hot shoe.
- Adjust the position if necessary using the shoe mount center adjustment screw hole and the provided screwdriver for a secure fit.
- Ensure the light meter is firmly seated and does not wobble.
Note: The camera must have a hot shoe interface and be capable of manual control over aperture and shutter speed for optimal use with this light meter.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the Power/Light Metering Button for a few seconds until the OLED screen illuminates.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the Power/Light Metering Button again for a few seconds until the screen turns off.
5.2. Light Metering
Once powered on, the device is ready to meter light. The metering lens has a diagonal viewing angle of approximately 30°.

Image 3: Illustration of the 30° diagonal viewing angle of the metering lens. The K9 optical glass lens enhances measurement performance in low-light conditions. Examples show how the 30° FOV captures light for different subjects like landscapes, groups of people, and individual portraits.
- Manual Trigger Metering: Briefly press the Power/Light Metering Button to take a single light reading. The exposure values will be displayed on the screen.
- Automatic/Continuous Trigger Metering: Some modes may offer continuous metering. Refer to the display for active metering status.
5.3. Adjusting Settings (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed)
Use the S Dial to adjust parameters. The active parameter for adjustment is typically highlighted or indicated by a cursor on the OLED screen.

Image 4: Examples of the OLED display in various modes. It shows how to navigate and adjust settings like Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO. The top section illustrates how the meter suggests equivalent aperture and shutter speed combinations for a given EV.
- Changing Active Parameter: Press the M Button to cycle through adjustable parameters (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed). The selected parameter will be indicated on the screen.
- Adjusting Value: Rotate the S Dial clockwise or counter-clockwise to increase or decrease the value of the currently selected parameter.
- Full-Stop and 1/3-Stop Switching: The device supports both full-stop and 1/3-stop adjustments. This setting can usually be toggled within the device's menu or by a specific button combination (refer to on-screen prompts).
5.4. Exposure Compensation
The light meter supports exposure compensation from EV-2 to EV+2. To adjust exposure compensation:
- Enter the exposure compensation adjustment mode (usually by pressing the M button until the EV compensation value is highlighted).
- Rotate the S Dial to set the desired compensation value.
5.5. Screen Brightness Adjustment
The brightness of the OLED screen can be adjusted for different viewing conditions. This setting is typically found within the device's menu options. Use the M Button to navigate to the brightness setting and the S Dial to adjust the level.
5.6. Screen Flip Display
The display orientation can be flipped 180 degrees, which is useful if the meter is mounted in a way that makes the screen difficult to read. This function is usually accessible via a menu option or a long press of a specific button (e.g., M button).
6. Display Modes
The light meter offers different display interfaces to suit user preference. You can freely switch between these modes.

Image 5: The bottom section of the diagram (also shown in Image 2) illustrates the "Classic Digital" dial and "Classic Dial" display modes, allowing users to choose their preferred visual representation of exposure information.
- "Classic Digital" Dial: Displays values numerically with a modern layout.
- "Classic Dial" Dial: May offer a more traditional, analog-like representation of settings.
To switch between these display modes, typically press and hold the M Button or cycle through options using the M Button and S Dial until the desired display is active.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the light meter. For the OLED screen and metering lens, use a microfiber cloth specifically designed for optics. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, store the light meter in the provided flannel storage bag to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to about 50% every few months.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
