4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Mounting the Carplay Screen

  1. Choose a suitable location on your dashboard that does not obstruct your view or interfere with airbags.
  2. Clean the dashboard surface thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion of the 3M adhesive pad.
  3. Attach the bracket to the screen and then secure the bracket with the 3M adhesive pad to the chosen dashboard location. Ensure the screw on the bottom of the stand is tightened after positioning to prevent movement.

4.2 Power Connection

Connect the provided power cord to the USB Type-C port on the device and plug the other end into your car's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket). The device will power on automatically with the car's ignition.

4.3 Backup Camera Installation

The HD backup camera enhances parking safety. Mount the camera at the rear of your vehicle. Connect the camera's cable to the positive pole of your reverse gear's power supply and to the designated AV IN port on the CarPlay screen. The camera will activate automatically when the vehicle is shifted into reverse.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

The device powers on automatically when your car's ignition is turned on. To power off, simply turn off your car's ignition. There is also a power button on the side of the unit for manual control.

5.2 Wireless CarPlay Connection (for iPhone)

To use Wireless CarPlay, ensure your iPhone is running iOS 9 or later and Siri is enabled.

  1. Turn on CarPlay mode on the Plimpton L1P screen.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
  3. Select the Bluetooth device named "CarKit-xxxx" from the list and pair your phone.
  4. Confirm the connection prompt on your iPhone to "Use CarPlay with 'DDP'".

5.3 Wireless Android Auto Connection (for Android Phones)

To use Wireless Android Auto, your phone should support 5GHz Wi-Fi and run Android 11 or later. Specific Google or Samsung phones with Android 10.0, or Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+/Note 8 with Android 9.0 are also compatible. Ensure the Android Auto app is updated to the latest version.

  1. Turn on Android Auto mode on the Plimpton L1P screen.
  2. On your Android phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
  3. Select the device named "CarKit-xxxx" to pair and connect.

5.4 Voice Control

5.5 Mirror Link Function

5.5.1 Wireless Airplay Connection (for iOS)

  1. Turn on Airplay mode on the Plimpton L1P screen.

5.6 Audio Output Options

The Plimpton L1P offers multiple ways to output audio to your car's sound system:
