Important Note for 8K/4K Resolution: To ensure optimal performance and prevent flickering or black screen issues, please use high-quality 8K HDMI cables that are less than 1 meter in length. Verify that your computers, monitor, and all cables support the desired 8K or 4K resolution.

4. Operating Instructions

The KVM Switch offers two methods for switching between connected computers:

4.1. Button Switching

Press the SELECT button located on the top of the KVM Switch to toggle between Computer 1 and Computer 2. An LED indicator will illuminate to show which computer is currently active.

4.2. Wired Remote Control

If you have connected the wired remote control, simply press the button on the remote to switch between computers. This allows for convenient switching if the KVM unit is placed out of direct reach.

The KVM Switch features LED lights that clearly indicate which computer is currently selected and active. This provides immediate visual feedback on the device's status.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KCEVE KVM Switch, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: Store the KVM switch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.
  • Cable Management: Ensure cables are not excessively bent or strained, which can lead to damage over time.
  • Power Disconnection: If the device will not be used for an extended period, disconnect it from the power supply.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM Switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Display or Flickering Screen:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
    • Verify that your monitor, computers, and all HDMI cables support the desired resolution (e.g., 8K or 4K).
    • For 8K resolutions, use high-quality HDMI 2.1 cables that are less than 1 meter in length. Longer or lower-quality cables can cause signal degradation.
    • Try restarting the KVM switch and connected devices.
  • Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB 3.0 cables from both computers are correctly connected to the KVM Switch's USB 3.0 IN ports.
    • Verify that your keyboard and mouse are connected to the KVM Switch's USB 3.0 ports.
    • Some specialized gaming keyboards/mice or those requiring specific drivers may not function optimally through a KVM switch. Try a standard keyboard/mouse to isolate the issue.
    • Bluetooth mice are not supported by this KVM switch.
  • Windows Rearranges Icons/Windows After Switching:
    • This KVM switch does not feature EDID emulation. When you switch away from a computer, Windows may detect the monitor as disconnected, causing it to rearrange open applications and desktop icons. This is expected behavior for KVMs without EDID emulation.
  • USB 3.0 Devices Not Detected or Slow:
    • Ensure the KVM switch is powered by the included DC power adapter, especially when connecting power-hungry USB devices.
    • Verify that the USB 3.0 cables are properly connected.
  • No Power to KVM Switch:
    • Check that the DC power adapter is securely connected to both the KVM switch and a working power outlet.
    • Ensure the power switch on the KVM (if present) is in the 'ON' position.
