4. Setup & Installation
Before installation, ensure your electric bicycle or scooter is powered off and the battery is disconnected. Refer to the wiring diagram below for correct connections.

4.1 Wiring Connections
- Light (1): Connect to your electric bicycle's front or rear light system. Ensure voltage compatibility.
- Self-study (2): These two wires are used for motor matching. Connect them together briefly during initial setup to allow the controller to learn the motor's phase sequence. Disconnect after the motor runs smoothly.
- E-brake (3): Connect to the electronic brake levers. When activated, this signal cuts motor power.
- Throttle (4): Connect to the throttle grip. This provides variable speed control to the motor.
- Power Cord (5): Connect to the battery's positive and negative terminals. Ensure correct polarity (red for positive, black for negative).
- Display (6): Connect to the compatible S866 or V889 display unit. This provides speed, battery level, and other operational data.
- Hall (7): Connect to the motor's Hall sensor wires. These provide feedback on the motor's rotor position for efficient commutation.
- Motor Wire (8): Connect the three main phase wires (usually green, blue, yellow) from the controller to the corresponding motor phase wires.
- PAS (Pedal Assist System) (9): Connect to the PAS sensor. This allows the motor to provide assistance when pedaling.
4.2 Installation Steps
- Mount the controller securely in a protected area on your bicycle or scooter, away from direct moisture and excessive heat.
- Connect all wires as per the diagram in Figure 4.1 and the descriptions above. Double-check each connection for security and correct polarity.
- Once all connections are made, connect the battery.
- Perform the "Self-study" procedure (see Section 5.1) to match the controller with your motor.
- Test all functions (throttle, brakes, display, PAS, lights) before riding.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Initial Motor Matching (Self-study)
For optimal performance, the controller needs to match with your motor's phase sequence. Follow these steps:
- Ensure all other connections are made, but the motor is not under load (e.g., rear wheel off the ground).
- Connect the two "Self-study" wires (labeled 2 in Figure 4.1) together.
- Turn on the power. The motor should start spinning slowly. If it spins in the wrong direction, disconnect the self-study wires, wait a few seconds, and reconnect them. The motor should then spin in the correct direction.
- Once the motor spins smoothly in the correct direction, disconnect the "Self-study" wires. The controller has now learned the motor's parameters.
5.2 Normal Operation
- Turn on the display unit (if applicable) and the main power switch.
- Use the throttle for direct speed control or the PAS system for pedal assistance.
- Apply the E-brake to cut motor power and engage braking.
- Monitor your speed and battery level via the display.
6. Maintenance
- Regularly inspect all wiring connections for looseness or damage.
- Keep the controller clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
- Avoid exposing the controller to harsh chemicals or solvents.
