1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the avedio links 4K@120Hz HDMI 2.1 Splitter with Audio Extractor. This device is designed to distribute a single HDMI input signal to two HDMI displays simultaneously, while also extracting audio to external sound systems. It supports high-resolution video up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz, and includes advanced features such as HDCP2.3 passthrough, an independent DownScaler, VRR, ALLM, and Dolby Atmos 7.1ch compatibility for audio output. Please read this manual carefully to ensure proper installation and operation.

2. Product Features

• High Resolution & Simultaneous Output: Supports simultaneous output of one HDMI source to two displays. Resolutions up to 8K@60Hz, 4K@120Hz, 1080P@480Hz, and ultrawide 7680×1200@60Hz are supported, including HDR10+. An independent scaler allows simultaneous display on monitors with varying resolutions.
• Audio Separation Function: Extracts audio from the HDMI signal for simultaneous output via optical (SPDIF), coaxial, and 3.5mm stereo ports. Supports high-quality audio up to 192kHz and various audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS, and PCM. Note: ARC/eARC is not supported.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your HDMI splitter:

1. Connect your HDMI source device (e.g., PS5, Blu-ray player, PC) to the HDMI IN port on the splitter using an HDMI 2.1 cable.
2. Connect your primary display (TV or monitor) to the HDMI OUT 1 port on the splitter using an HDMI 2.1 cable.
3. Connect your secondary display (TV or monitor) to the HDMI OUT 2 port on the splitter using an HDMI 2.1 cable.
4. For audio extraction, connect your sound system (soundbar, amplifier, headphones) to the desired audio output port: Optical (SPDIF), Coaxial, or 3.5mm stereo.
5. Connect the provided USB Type-C power cable to the DC 5V/1A port on the splitter and then to a 5V/1A power adapter (not included). Plug the adapter into a power outlet.
6. Power on all connected devices. The splitter is plug-and-play and should automatically detect the input and output signals.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 EDID Management

The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) DIP switches allow you to manually configure the video and audio output format to ensure compatibility with your connected displays and audio devices. Refer to the EDID setting table below for available modes.

5.2 DownScaler Function

The independent DownScaler function allows the splitter to automatically adjust the output resolution for each display. This is particularly useful when connecting a high-resolution source (e.g., 8K) to a lower-resolution display (e.g., 4K or 1080P) without affecting the other output. Use the Scaler DIP switches to control this function.

5.3 Audio Output Modes

The splitter can extract audio from the HDMI signal and output it through three different ports:

• Optical (SPDIF): For digital audio connection to soundbars or AV receivers.
• Coaxial: For digital audio connection to compatible audio systems.
• 3.5mm Stereo: For analog audio connection to headphones or stereo speakers.

All three audio outputs can function simultaneously.

7. Troubleshooting

• No Video Output:
  • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected and are HDMI 2.1 compliant for high resolutions.
  • Verify the power adapter is connected and providing 5V/1A power to the splitter.
  • Check the input source and display settings to ensure they are configured correctly.
  • Adjust the EDID DIP switches on the splitter to a compatible mode for your displays.
  • Try connecting the HDMI source directly to one display to confirm the source and display are working independently.
• No Audio Output:
  • Ensure the audio cables (optical, coaxial, or 3.5mm) are correctly connected to your sound system.
  • Verify your sound system is set to the correct input source.
  • Check the audio settings on your HDMI source device.
  • Adjust the EDID DIP switches to an audio-compatible mode.
• Image Flickering or Instability:
  • Ensure you are using high-quality HDMI 2.1 cables, especially for 4K@120Hz or 8K@60Hz.
  • Check cable lengths; excessively long cables can cause signal degradation. Refer to the cable specification table in Section 6.
  • Verify the power supply is stable.
• Resolution Issues (e.g., 8K not displaying on 4K TV):
  • Ensure the DownScaler function is enabled via the DIP switches if you are connecting a higher resolution source to a lower resolution display.
