iRobot Roomba 505X Robot Vacuum & Mop Combo Instruction Manual

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your iRobot Roomba 505X Robot Vacuum & Mop Combo. This advanced cleaning system is designed to vacuum and mop your floors, offering automated cleaning for various floor types. It features powerful suction, dual mop pads, and intelligent navigation to manage everyday messes efficiently.

Package Contents

Before beginning, ensure all components are present:

  • iRobot Roomba 505X Robot Vacuum & Mop
  • AutoWash Dock
  • Dirt Disposal Bag (pre-installed or included separately)
  • Mop Pads (pre-installed or included separately)
  • Power Cord

Setup

1. Dock Placement

Place the AutoWash Dock on a hard, level surface against a wall. Ensure there is at least 1.5 feet (0.5 meters) of clear space on either side of the dock and 4 feet (1.2 meters) in front of it. Plug the power cord into the dock and then into a wall outlet. Keep the area around the dock clear of obstacles.

2. Initial Charging

Place the Roomba 505X onto the AutoWash Dock. Ensure the charging contacts on the robot align with those on the dock. The robot will begin charging automatically. Allow the robot to fully charge before its first use, which may take several hours.

3. Connect to the Roomba Home App

  1. Download the iRobot Home App from your device's app store.
  2. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Roomba 505X to your home Wi-Fi network.
  3. The app will guide you through the initial mapping process using ClearView Pro LiDAR technology, allowing the robot to learn your home's layout.

4. Fill Water Tanks

The AutoWash Dock features separate tanks for clean and dirty water. Fill the clean water tank with water as instructed in the app. Do not add cleaning solutions unless specifically approved by iRobot, as this may damage the system.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting a Cleaning Cycle

  • Via iRobot Home App: Open the app and select the desired cleaning mode (Vacuum, Mop, Combo, or Vacuum then Mop). You can also set schedules, define specific rooms to clean, or create keep-out zones.
  • Via Voice Assistant: Use compatible voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. For example, say "Alexa, tell Roomba to start cleaning."
  • Via Robot Button: Press the CLEAN button on the robot to start a standard cleaning cycle. Press it again to pause, and hold it to end the cycle and send the robot back to its dock.

2. Cleaning Modes

  • Vacuum Only: The robot will only vacuum. Mop pads will lift over carpets.
  • Mop Only: The robot will only mop. Ensure mop pads are attached and the water tank is filled.
  • Combo Clean: The robot vacuums and mops simultaneously.
  • Vacuum then Mop: The robot completes a full vacuuming cycle before starting a mopping cycle.

3. SmartScrub Technology

For stubborn messes, the SmartScrub feature applies additional pressure and scrubbing action. This mode is ideal for dried-on spills in kitchens or entryways. Activate SmartScrub through the iRobot Home App for targeted cleaning.

Maintenance

1. AutoWash Dock Functions

  • Auto-Emptying: The dock automatically empties the robot's dustbin into a sealed bag, holding up to 75 days of debris. Replace the bag when full.
  • Mop Pad Washing & Drying: The dock rinses mop pads during cleaning and washes and heat-dries them when cleaning is complete, ensuring they are fresh for the next cycle.
  • Self-Cleaning Cycle: The dock performs a self-cleaning cycle to reduce residue buildup, maintaining optimal performance.
