4. Operating Your Greenhouse

Proper operation ensures optimal growing conditions for your plants and extends the life of your greenhouse.

Ventilation:

The adjustable roof vent is crucial for temperature and humidity control. Open the vent during warm periods to release excess heat and reduce humidity, preventing overheating and fungal growth. Close the vent during cooler periods or at night to retain heat.

Door Operation:

The lockable door provides access and security. Ensure the door is fully closed and locked when not in use, especially during strong winds or when securing contents.

Temperature Management:

Monitor the internal temperature regularly. Adjust ventilation as needed. In extreme cold, additional heating may be required, and in extreme heat, shading or increased ventilation is necessary.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and performance of your greenhouse.

  • Cleaning Panels: Clean polycarbonate panels periodically with mild soap and water to remove dirt, algae, or mineral deposits. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that could scratch the panels.
  • Frame Inspection: Annually inspect the aluminum frame for any signs of damage, loose bolts, or corrosion. Tighten any loose fasteners.
  • Gutter Maintenance: Keep the integrated gutters clear of leaves and debris to ensure proper water drainage.
  • Door and Vent Mechanisms: Lubricate hinges and moving parts of the door and roof vent as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Anchoring Check: Periodically check the ground anchors to ensure they remain secure, especially after strong winds or heavy rainfall.
