3. Setup

3.1 Package Contents:

3.2 Battery Installation:

1. Align the battery with the grooves on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place, ensuring the battery latch is secured.
3. To remove, press the battery latch and slide the battery downwards.

3.3 Antenna Attachment:

Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is firmly seated.

3.4 Belt Clip and Strap Attachment:

Attach the belt clip to the designated area on the back of the radio using the provided screws. The strap can be threaded through the strap buckle for carrying convenience.

3.5 Initial Charging:

Before first use, fully charge the battery. Connect the USB-C cable to the radio's USB-C port and plug the other end into a compatible USB power source (e.g., phone charger, computer USB port). The LED indicator will show charging status.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Volume:

Rotate the Knob (02) clockwise to power on the radio and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.

4.2 Transmitting and Receiving:

1. Select the desired channel or frequency using the Keypad (08).
2. To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button (09) on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the Microphone (06).
3. Release the PTT button to receive.

4.3 Keypad Functions:

The Keypad (08) allows for direct frequency input, channel selection, and menu navigation. Refer to the full manual for detailed menu operations.

4.4 Flashlight:

Activate the built-in Flashlight (03) for illumination in dark conditions. Typically, this is controlled by a short press of a side key or a menu option.

4.5 VOX (Voice Operated Transmission):

The VOX function allows transmission to be activated by voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. This feature can be enabled and adjusted via the radio's menu.

4.6 FM Radio:

The radio includes a commercial FM radio receiver (65 MHz ~ 108 MHz). Access this function through the menu to listen to FM broadcasts.

4.7 Emergency Alarm:

In an emergency, activate the SOS sound and light alarm function. This is typically assigned to a programmable side key or a menu option.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Waterproofing:

The UV-9R Plus has an IP67 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, this does not mean the item is submersible, nor is it permanently waterproof. Ensure all ports and covers are securely closed to maintain water resistance.

5.2 Cleaning:

Clean the radio's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the radio is dry before use or charging.

5.3 Battery Care:

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Store the radio and battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods. Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to prevent deep discharge.

• Radio does not power on:

  • Ensure the power/volume knob is turned clockwise.

  • Confirm that CTCSS/DCS settings match the other radio.
• Poor audio quality:
  • Adjust the volume knob.

  • Verify the USB-C cable is properly connected to both the radio and the power source.
