4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the power supply from its packaging. Verify all components are present: power supply unit, power cable, and alligator clip test leads.
  2. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, flat surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure there is sufficient space around the cooling fan vents.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided power cable to the AC input socket on the rear panel of the power supply, then plug the other end into a grounded wall outlet.
  4. Initial Check: Before connecting any load, turn on the power supply using the power switch. The LED displays should illuminate. Ensure the voltage and current knobs are set to their minimum positions (fully counter-clockwise).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adjusting Voltage and Current

  1. Pre-setting Voltage (No Load):
    • Ensure no load is connected to the output terminals.
    • Turn on the power supply.
    • Adjust the V-Coarse knob to set the approximate desired voltage.
    • Use the V-Fine knob for precise voltage adjustment. The CV indicator should be lit.
    • Adjust the A-Coarse knob to its maximum (fully clockwise) to ensure the power supply operates in Constant Voltage (CV) mode when the load is connected.
  2. Pre-setting Current (Short Circuit Method):
    • Ensure no load is connected.
    • Turn on the power supply.
    • Set the voltage to a low value (e.g., 5V) using the V-Coarse and V-Fine knobs.
    • Momentarily short-circuit the positive and negative output terminals using a test lead (or connect a low-resistance load). The CC indicator should light up.
    • Adjust the A-Coarse knob for the approximate desired current limit.
    • Use the A-Fine knob for precise current limit adjustment.
    • Remove the short circuit. The power supply is now set with a current limit.
  3. Connecting the Load: After setting the desired voltage and current limits, connect your load to the output terminals using the provided test leads. Ensure correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).

5.2 Constant Voltage (CV) and Constant Current (CC) Modes

The power supply automatically switches between CV and CC modes depending on the load. The corresponding LED indicator (CV or CC) on the front panel will illuminate.

  • Constant Voltage (CV) Mode: When the load resistance is high, the output voltage remains constant at the set value, and the output current is determined by the load. The CV indicator will be lit.
  • Constant Current (CC) Mode: When the load resistance is low, the output current remains constant at the set limit, and the output voltage drops to maintain this current. The CC indicator will be lit.

5.3 Using the 5V/2A USB Output
