5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the red power button to turn the device on or off. The color display will activate upon power-on.

5.2 Non-Contact AC Voltage Detection (V-Alert)

The device automatically enters non-contact voltage detection mode upon power-on. It uses visual, audible, and vibration alerts to indicate the presence and strength of AC voltage.

  1. Hold the tester with the tip near the conductor or outlet you wish to test.
  2. The display will show a signal percentage and an analog bar, indicating the voltage strength.
  3. The flashlight at the tip will change color (green for low, yellow for medium, red for high voltage), and the buzzer frequency will increase with stronger signals.

5.3 Adjusting Sensitivity (High/Low Mode)

The AVX1 offers two sensitivity modes: Low (AC 90V-1000V) and High (AC 12V-1000V). Press the blue 'V/Alert' button to toggle between these modes. High sensitivity is useful for detecting lower voltages or for more precise detection.

5.4 3-Phase Rotation Test

This feature helps determine the phase sequence in three-phase electrical systems.

  1. Press the blue 'PHASE' button to enter 3-Phase Rotation Test mode.
  2. Place the tip of the tester near each phase conductor (A, B, C) in sequence.
  3. The display will indicate 'L' for left rotation or 'R' for right rotation, along with the phase sequence (PABC).

5.5 Live Wire Check

The AVX1 can differentiate between live and neutral wires in an AC outlet.

  1. Insert the tester tip into one slot of an AC outlet.
  2. If it's a live wire, the tester will show a high signal percentage, red flashlight, and rapid beeping.
  3. If it's a neutral wire, the tester will show a low or no signal, green flashlight, and slower or no beeping.

5.6 Breakpoint Location

This function helps locate breaks in live wires by detecting the absence of voltage.

  1. Scan the tester along the length of a live wire.
  2. The signal percentage and alarm will drop significantly or cease at the point of a break.
