2.2. CPU Installation (LGA 2011)

  1. Open CPU Socket: Release the two retention levers on the LGA 2011 socket and lift the metal load plate.
  2. Insert CPU: Carefully align the triangular mark on the CPU with the corresponding mark on the socket. Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it.
  3. Close CPU Socket: Lower the load plate and secure it by pushing down the two retention levers until they click into place.
  4. Install CPU Cooler: Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied) and install your compatible LGA 2011 CPU cooler according to its instructions.

2.3. Memory (RAM) Installation

The X79G motherboard supports DDR3 memory across four slots, up to 128GB. It supports both ordinary server memory and ECC memory, but they cannot be mixed.

  1. Open RAM Slot Clips: Push open the clips at both ends of the DDR3 memory slots.
  2. Insert RAM Modules: Align the notch on the DDR3 RAM module with the key in the memory slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the module until the clips snap into place.
  3. Dual Channel Configuration: For optimal performance, install memory modules in matching pairs (e.g., slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4). Refer to the motherboard diagram for specific slot numbering.

2.4. Graphics Card (GPU) Installation

This motherboard is equipped with PCIe 3.0 slots, supporting RX series graphics cards and a full range of PCIe interface GPUs.

  1. Open PCIe Slot Latch: Locate the primary PCIe x16 slot and open the retention latch at the end of the slot.
  2. Insert GPU: Align your graphics card with the PCIe slot and press down firmly until it is fully seated and the latch clicks into place.
  3. Secure GPU: Secure the graphics card to the PC case with a screw.
  4. Connect Power: Connect any necessary PCIe power cables from your power supply to the graphics card.

2.5. Storage Device Installation (M.2 SSD & SATA)

The motherboard includes an M.2 SSD interface for ultra-fast storage solutions. Standard SATA drives are also supported.

  1. M.2 SSD: Locate the M.2 slot. Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle, then push it down and secure it with the provided screw.
  2. SATA Drives: Connect SATA data cables from your SSDs/HDDs to the SATA ports on the motherboard. Connect SATA power cables from your power supply to the drives.

2.6. Power Supply Connections

  1. 24-pin ATX Power: Connect the main 24-pin ATX power cable from your power supply to the corresponding connector on the motherboard.
  2. 8-pin CPU Power: Connect the 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) CPU power cable to the connector near the CPU socket.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. First Boot and BIOS Setup

  1. Power On: After all components are installed and connected, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power on your system.
  2. Access BIOS: During startup, repeatedly press the designated key (usually DEL, F2, or F10) to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility.
  3. Configure Settings:
    • Set the correct date and time.
    • Verify that all installed components (CPU, RAM, storage) are detected.
    • Configure boot order to prioritize your operating system drive.
    • Save changes and exit BIOS.

3.2. Operating System and Driver Installation

  1. Install OS: Install your preferred operating system (e.g., Windows, Linux) from a bootable USB drive or DVD.
  2. Install Drivers: After OS installation, install all necessary drivers for the motherboard components. This includes chipset drivers, LAN drivers (RTL8111HN Gigabit), audio drivers, and any specific drivers for your graphics card. Drivers are typically available on the manufacturer's website.
