2. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Always adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 500 pounds (226 kg). Overloading can cause equipment failure and serious injury.
  • Stable Surface: Always operate the lift on a firm, level, and stable surface. Avoid sloped or uneven ground.
  • Double Lock Safety: Ensure the double lock safety mechanism is engaged after lifting the equipment to the desired height. This prevents accidental collapse.
  • Clearance: Maintain a safe distance from moving parts and pinch points during operation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection, when performing maintenance.
  • Vehicle Stability: Before working under a raised vehicle, ensure it is stable and cannot roll or shift. Engage parking brakes and block wheels not on the lift.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the work area during operation.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect the lift for any signs of damage, wear, or leaks. Do not use if damaged.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of the hydraulic lift:

  1. Position the Lift: Roll the lift to a firm, level surface. Position the lift so that the support arms are directly under the front wheels or frame of the equipment you intend to lift.
  2. Prepare Equipment: Ensure the equipment is turned off, the engine is cool, and the parking brake is engaged. Remove any loose items.
  3. Engage Support Arms: Carefully roll the equipment onto the adjustable support arms. Ensure the equipment is centered and stable on the arms. Adjust the arm width if necessary for a secure fit.
  4. Lift the Equipment: Use the foot pedal or handle to pump the hydraulic jack, slowly raising the equipment. Observe the equipment's stability during the lifting process.
  5. Engage Safety Locks: Once the desired height is reached (up to 26-1/2 inches), immediately engage the double lock safety latches. These latches will firmly fix the support bar, preventing accidental lowering. Never work under equipment supported only by the hydraulic pressure. Always use the safety locks.
  6. Perform Maintenance: With the equipment securely lifted and safety locks engaged, you can now perform necessary maintenance.
  7. Lower the Equipment: To lower, first slightly raise the equipment using the hydraulic pump to disengage the safety locks. Then, slowly release the hydraulic pressure using the release valve (typically a twist knob or lever) to gently lower the equipment back to the ground. Ensure the area is clear before lowering.
  8. Remove Equipment: Once fully lowered, carefully roll the equipment off the lift.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your hydraulic lift.

  • Cleaning: Keep the lift clean and free of dirt, grease, and debris. Wipe down surfaces with a clean cloth.
  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate pivot points and moving parts with a suitable grease or oil to ensure smooth operation.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: Check the hydraulic fluid level regularly. If low, refill with appropriate hydraulic jack oil. Consult a professional if you are unsure.
  • Rust Prevention: The lift features an anti-rust coating. However, store the lift in a dry environment to prevent corrosion, especially if the coating is scratched.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect all welds, bolts, and structural components for any signs of damage, cracks, or loosening. Tighten any loose fasteners.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hydraulic lift, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Lift does not raise:
    • Check hydraulic fluid level; refill if low.
    • Ensure the release valve is fully closed.
    • Verify the load does not exceed the 500 lb capacity.
  • Lift lowers slowly or uncontrollably:
    • The release valve may be open too far or faulty.
    • Internal hydraulic leak. Contact customer support for assistance.
  • Lift is unstable:
    • Ensure the lift is on a firm, level surface.
    • Verify the equipment is centered and securely positioned on the support arms.
    • Check for loose bolts or damaged components.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact Garvee customer support.
