Setup

1. Power Supply

The control unit can be powered by two methods:

  • USB Power: Connect the provided USB cable to the control unit and a 5V DC 1A USB power adapter (not included).
  • Battery Power: Insert 4 x 1.5V AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity.

2. System Assembly

  1. Connect Water Filter: Attach the water filter to the inlet of the control unit. This prevents debris from entering the system.
  2. Connect Hose: Cut the 10-meter hose to desired lengths for each plant. Connect one end of the main hose to the outlet of the control unit.
  3. Install Connectors and Drip Emitters: Use the T-connectors, straight connectors, and cross connectors to create your desired irrigation layout. Insert micro drip emitters into the hose near each plant's root area. Use shut-off valve connectors to adjust water flow to individual plants if needed.
  4. Install Check Valve: Integrate the check valve into the main hose line to prevent backflow of water.
  5. Secure End Caps: Close off any open hose ends with the provided end caps.
  6. Position Control Unit: Place the control unit near a water source (e.g., a bucket or reservoir) ensuring the water filter is submerged. The unit has an IP54 protection class, suitable for outdoor use, but protect it from direct heavy rain if possible.

3. App Installation and Pairing

  1. Download App: Download either the "SmartLife" or "Tuya Smart" app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Create Account: Open the app and create a new user account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Device: Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The irrigation system operates on 2.4 GHz (2412-2472 MHz).
  4. Pairing Mode: Refer to the control unit's display or indicator lights for pairing mode. The app will guide you through the connection process.

Operating Instructions

1. App Control

Once paired, you can control and schedule your irrigation system via the SmartLife or Tuya Smart app:

  • Irrigation Duration: Set the watering time from 20 seconds to 30 minutes.
  • Irrigation Frequency: Schedule watering intervals from 1 hour to 7 days.
  • Manual Irrigation: Initiate a manual watering cycle for 30 seconds directly from the app.
  • Adjust Water Quantity: Fine-tune the water amount based on plant needs and weather conditions.

2. Manual Control (Device Buttons)

The control unit features two film buttons for basic manual operation:

  • One button typically controls Wi-Fi pairing mode.
  • The other button can initiate a manual watering cycle (e.g., 30 seconds).

3. Voice Control

For added convenience, you can integrate the system with voice assistants:

  • Connect your SmartLife app to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
  • Use voice commands to start or stop irrigation (e.g., "Alexa, start watering the garden" or "Hey Google, turn off the irrigation system").

Maintenance

  • Clean Water Filter: Regularly check and clean the water filter to prevent blockages and ensure consistent water flow.
  • Check Hoses and Emitters: Periodically inspect hoses for kinks or damage, and ensure drip emitters are not clogged. Clean or replace as necessary.
  • Battery Replacement: If using battery power, replace AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the control unit or in the app.
  • Winterization (if applicable): For outdoor use in freezing climates, disconnect and drain the system before the first frost to prevent damage from ice expansion. Store components in a dry, protected area.

Troubleshooting

  • No Water Flow:
    • Check if the water source (e.g., bucket) has sufficient water.
    • Ensure the water filter is clean and not clogged.
    • Verify all hose connections are secure and there are no kinks.
    • Check if the pump is operating (listen for a faint hum).
  • System Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. The system does not support 5 GHz networks.
    • Check if the control unit is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
    • Restart the control unit and your router.
    • Attempt to re-pair the device through the app.
  • Inaccurate Watering Times/Schedules:
    • Verify settings in the SmartLife/Tuya Smart app.
    • Ensure the device's internal clock is synchronized with the app (requires active Wi-Fi connection).
  • Low Water Pressure/Uneven Distribution:
    • Check for blockages in drip emitters or hoses.
    • Ensure the water source is elevated enough or the pump is functioning correctly.
    • Adjust shut-off valve connectors to balance flow to individual plants.
