Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Retain packaging for future storage or transport if needed.
- Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials such as curtains or walls. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- First Use Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Ensure the crumb tray is properly inserted.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Initial Burn-off: It is recommended to operate the toaster for a few cycles without bread on the highest shade setting to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke may be present during this process; this is normal. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.
Operating Instructions
The WHALL ToasterSlice offers intuitive touch screen controls for various toasting preferences.

Image: A visual guide demonstrating the four steps of operating the toaster: inserting bread, selecting settings on the touch screen, lowering the lever, and enjoying the toasted bread.
Basic Toasting
- Insert Bread: Place slices of bread into the toasting slots. The 1.5-inch wide slots accommodate various bread types and thicknesses.
- Select Bread Type: On the touch screen, press the icon corresponding to your bread type (e.g., White, Bagel, Gluten Free, English Muffin, Waffle). The selected type will be projected onto the display.
- Adjust Shade Setting: Swipe or click on the shade level indicator on the touch screen to select your desired browning level. There are 11 shade settings available. The selected shade will be projected.
- Lower Lever: Press the toasting lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin, and the digital timer will count down.
- Cancel: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the "Cancel" button on the touch screen.
Special Functions
- Reheat Function: If your toast has cooled, select the "Reheat" function icon on the touch screen. This will warm the bread for approximately 30 seconds without further browning.
- Defrost Function: For frozen bread, select the "Defrost" function icon. This adds extra time to the toasting cycle to thaw and then toast the bread to your selected shade.

Using the Warming Rack
The built-in warming rack is ideal for warming pastries, croissants, rolls, and other items that should not be placed directly into the toasting slots.
- Engage Rack: Gently push the warming rack lever (usually located on the side or back) upwards to deploy the rack.
- Place Items: Place the items to be warmed on the rack.
- Select Setting: Use a low shade setting or the Reheat function for warming. Do not use high settings as this may burn items on the rack.
- Monitor: Closely monitor items on the warming rack to prevent burning.
- Retract Rack: Once warming is complete, allow the rack to cool, then gently push the lever downwards to retract the rack for storage.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your toaster.
Crumb Tray Cleaning
- Unplug: Always unplug the toaster from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove Tray: Locate the crumb tray at the back of the toaster. Pull it out to remove accumulated crumbs.
- Discard Crumbs: Discard crumbs and wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. You may use a mild detergent if necessary, but ensure it is thoroughly rinsed.
- Dry and Reinsert: Ensure the crumb tray is completely dry before reinserting it into the toaster.

Exterior Cleaning
- Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains on the stainless steel, use a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for stainless steel.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the surface.
- Ensure no water or cleaning solution enters the toasting slots or electrical components.
Storage
When not in use, ensure the toaster is unplugged and cool. The power cord can be neatly wrapped using the cord groove and clips at the bottom of the unit for compact storage.
