1. Introduction

The Mercusys MB113-4G is a portable 4G LTE Wi-Fi N300 router designed to provide internet connectivity using a SIM card. It offers fast 4G LTE speeds, N300 Wi-Fi coverage, and features like VPN, parental controls, and guest networks. Its compact design and USB-C power option make it suitable for various environments, including travel, outdoor use, and small offices.

2. Package Contents

Verify that your package contains the following items:

• 1x Mercusys MB113-4G 300 Mbps 4G LTE Wireless Router
• 1x Power Adapter
• 1x RJ45 Ethernet Cable

3. Physical Overview

Familiarize yourself with the router's ports, buttons, and LED indicators.

3.1 Rear Panel

• Power Port: Connects to the included power adapter.
• LAN1 Port: Connects to a wired device (e.g., computer, smart TV).
• WAN/LAN2 Port: Can function as a WAN port for a wired internet connection or as a second LAN port.
• WPS/Wi-Fi Button: Press to activate WPS for easy Wi-Fi connection or press and hold to toggle Wi-Fi on/off.
• Reset Button: Press and hold for 5-10 seconds to restore factory default settings.
• Nano SIM Card Slot: Insert your Nano SIM card here.

3.2 LED Indicators

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Mercusys MB113-4G router.

4.1 SIM Card Installation

Before powering on the router, insert your Nano SIM card.

1. Ensure the router is powered off.
2. Locate the Nano SIM card slot on the rear panel.
3. Insert the Nano SIM card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is oriented correctly as shown in the diagram.

Important: Many SIM cards come with a PIN lock enabled by default. Before inserting the SIM into the router, it is highly recommended to insert it into a mobile phone and disable the PIN lock. The router's initial setup process may not prompt for the PIN, leading to connectivity issues if the SIM is locked.

4.2 Powering On

Connect the router to a power source.

1. Connect the included power adapter to the router's Power port and then to a wall outlet.
2. Alternatively, for portable use, connect a compatible USB-C power bank to the USB-C port. Ensure the power bank provides 5V.

The router will power on, and the LEDs will illuminate. Wait for the Internet LED and Signal Strength LEDs to stabilize, indicating a successful connection to the 4G LTE network.

4.3 Initial Configuration

You can configure the router using a web browser or the Mercusys app.

4.3.1 Via Web Browser

1. Connect your computer to the router via Wi-Fi (SSID and password are on the label at the bottom of the router) or via an Ethernet cable to a LAN port.
2. Open a web browser and enter mwlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a login password and complete the initial setup.

4.3.2 Via Mercusys App

1. Download the Mercusys app from your mobile device's app store or by scanning the QR code provided in the quick start guide. You can also find it at mercusys.com/app/download-app.
2. Connect your mobile device to the router's Wi-Fi network.
3. Open the Mercusys app and follow the instructions to add and configure your router.

5. Operation

Once set up, your MB113-4G router provides internet access to your devices.

5.1 Connecting Devices

You can connect devices wirelessly or via Ethernet cable.

• Wi-Fi Connection: Search for the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) printed on the router's label and enter the Wi-Fi password.
• Ethernet Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your device to one of the router's LAN ports.

5.2 Advanced Features

The router offers several advanced features accessible via the web management interface or the Mercusys app:

• VPN Server and Client: Configure VPN connections for secure remote access.

6. Placement and Signal Optimization

Optimal placement of the router can significantly impact signal strength and network performance.

• Location: Place the router in a central location within the area where you need Wi-Fi coverage.
• Proximity to Windows: For optimal 4G LTE signal reception, position the router as close as possible to an exterior window. While the signal strength LEDs provide an indication, actual performance can vary significantly based on external placement.
• Obstructions: Avoid placing the router near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the router operates efficiently.

7.1 Firmware Updates

Periodically check for and install firmware updates to improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. This can typically be done through the web management interface under System Tools or Firmware Upgrade.

7.2 Cleaning

Keep the router clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.

7.3 Wi-Fi Deactivation

If you wish to deactivate the Wi-Fi signal, note that there is no dedicated physical button for this function. You must disable Wi-Fi through the router's web management interface or the Mercusys app. If you disable Wi-Fi via the app while connected wirelessly, you will lose connection and need to use a wired connection (Ethernet) to re-enable it.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

8.1 No Internet Connection

• Check SIM Card: Ensure the Nano SIM card is correctly inserted and that its PIN lock has been disabled.
• Signal Strength: Verify the 4G LTE signal strength LEDs. If the signal is weak, try repositioning the router, ideally near a window.
• APN Settings: In the router's web interface or app, check the APN (Access Point Name) settings. These are usually configured automatically, but manual adjustment might be needed for some carriers.
• Data Plan: Confirm that your SIM card has an active data plan and has not exceeded its data limit.

8.2 Slow Internet Speeds

• Signal Strength: A weak 4G LTE signal will result in slower speeds. Optimize router placement.
• Network Congestion: During peak hours or in congested areas, 4G LTE speeds may naturally decrease.
• Wi-Fi Interference: Ensure your Wi-Fi channel is not congested. Use the router's settings to select a less crowded channel.
• Data Throttling: Some mobile operators may reduce speeds after a certain amount of data consumption, even on 'unlimited' plans.

8.3 Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

• Wi-Fi Enabled: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on the router (check the Wi-Fi LED). If not, enable it via the web interface or app.
• Correct Password: Double-check that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password.
• Distance: Move closer to the router to rule out range issues.
• Device Limit: The router supports up to 32 devices. Ensure you are not exceeding this limit.
