4. Setup Guide

4.2. Initial Configuration using the Tether App
The easiest way to set up and manage your router is through the TP-Link Tether app.
- Download the TP-Link Tether app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Connect your mobile device to the router's default Wi-Fi network (SSID and password are on the label at the bottom of the router).
- Open the Tether app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

4.3. Web-Based Management
Alternatively, you can configure the router using a web browser:
- Connect your computer to the router via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
- Open a web browser and enter the default management address (usually
tplinkwifi.netor192.168.0.1). Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for the exact address. - Log in with the credentials you set during initial setup or the default credentials found on the router's label.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your network settings.
5. Operating Modes
The Roam 6 AX1500 supports multiple operating modes to suit various connectivity needs:
5.1. Router Mode
In Router Mode, the device creates a private Wi-Fi network using an internet source. This is ideal for sharing a single internet connection with multiple devices.
- Ethernet Wired Connection: Connect the router's WAN port to an Ethernet outlet.
- USB Tethering: Connect your smartphone via a USB cable to share its mobile data connection.
- 3G/4G/5G USB Modem (Dongle): Connect a compatible USB modem to the USB 3.0 port.
- Hotspot (WISP): Connect to a public Wi-Fi network and create a private, secure network for all your devices, requiring only one login for the public Wi-Fi.
