3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Choose a suitable location for the auto-empty station. Ensure it is against a wall, with at least 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) of clear space on both sides and 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in front. Avoid direct sunlight and areas with strong Wi-Fi signals from other devices.
  3. Plug the auto-empty station into a power outlet. Ensure the power cable is neatly arranged to prevent tangling.

3.2 Initial Charge

Place the robot onto the charging contacts of the auto-empty station. The robot will automatically begin charging. For first-time use, fully charge the robot before operation (approximately 4-6 hours).

3.3 App Connection

To unlock the full potential of your Redkey D8, download the companion app and connect your device:

4.1 Cleaning Modes

The Redkey D8 offers versatile cleaning options:

  • Vacuum Only: Ideal for carpets and general dry debris. Remove the mopping module for optimal vacuuming performance on carpets.
  • Mop Only: For hard floors that require wet cleaning. Ensure the water tank is filled and the mop pad is attached.
  • Vacuum and Mop (4-in-1): Simultaneously vacuums and mops hard floors. The robot automatically adjusts suction and water flow.

4.2 LiDAR Navigation and Mapping

4.3 Customizing Cleaning

Using the app, you can personalize your cleaning experience:

  • Zone Cleaning: Select specific areas on the map for the robot to clean.

4.4 Voice Control

The Redkey D8 is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Link your robot to your smart home system through the app to enable voice commands for starting, stopping, or sending the robot back to its charging base.

4.5 Auto-Recharge and Resume

When the battery level is low, the robot will automatically return to the charging base. After recharging, it will resume cleaning from where it left off to complete the task.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your Redkey D8. Always power off the robot before performing any maintenance.

5.1 Auto-Empty Dustbin

The 4L dust bag in the auto-empty station typically requires replacement every 90 days, depending on usage and pet hair presence.

  1. Open the lid of the auto-empty station.
  2. Carefully remove the full dust bag and dispose of it.
  3. Insert a new dust bag into the station.
  4. Close the lid securely.

5.2 Cleaning Brushes

  • Main Brush: Remove the main brush cover and lift out the brush. Use the provided cleaning tool to remove hair and debris. Clean the brush bearings.
  • Side Brushes: Regularly check side brushes for tangled hair or debris. Remove and clean them. Replace if worn or damaged.

5.3 Cleaning Filters

Remove the 2-in-1 dustbin/water tank. Open the dustbin compartment and remove the filter. Tap the filter to remove dust. Do not wash the HEPA filter with water. Replace filters every 3-6 months depending on usage.

5.4 Cleaning Water Tank and Mop Pad

  • Empty any remaining water from the tank after each mopping session.
  • Remove the mop pad and wash it thoroughly. Allow it to air dry completely before reattaching.

5.5 Sensor Cleaning

Wipe all sensors (cliff sensors, wall sensor, charging contacts) with a clean, dry cloth to ensure proper functionality.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Redkey D8, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
