3. Setup
3.1 Assembly Instructions
The HEINPRO Cordless Weed Wacker requires minimal assembly. Refer to Figure 2.7 for component identification.
- Attach the Trimmer Guard: Align the trimmer guard with the mounting points on the trimmer head assembly. Secure it using the provided screws and a Phillips head screwdriver. Ensure it is firmly attached to protect against debris.
- Connect Shaft Sections: Insert the lower shaft into the upper shaft. Ensure the alignment pins engage correctly and secure the connection using the lock collar. Twist the lock collar until it is tight.
- Install Auxiliary Handle: Slide the auxiliary handle onto the upper shaft. Adjust its position for comfortable operation and tighten the locking mechanism to secure it.
3.2 Battery Installation
This tool is compatible with DeWalt 20V MAX batteries (sold separately).
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Align the battery with the battery port on the main handle.
- Slide the battery into the port until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove the battery, press the release button and slide the battery out.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Starting and Stopping the Trimmer
- Ensure the battery is securely installed.
- To start, depress the safety lock switch (7 in Figure 2.7) with your thumb.
- While holding the safety lock switch, squeeze the trigger (6 in Figure 2.7) to activate the trimmer.
- To stop, release the trigger. The safety lock switch will automatically reset.
4.2 Using the Bump Feed
The bump feed head allows for easy line advancement during operation.
- While the trimmer is running, gently tap the trimmer head on a firm, flat surface (e.g., the ground).
- This action will release a small amount of new trimmer line.
- The line cut-off blade on the guard will automatically trim the line to the correct length.
4.3 Adjusting the Auxiliary Handle
The auxiliary handle (2 in Figure 2.7) can be adjusted to optimize comfort and control.
- Loosen the locking mechanism on the auxiliary handle.
- Slide the handle up or down the shaft to your desired position.
- Tighten the locking mechanism firmly to secure the handle in place.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Trimmer Line Replacement
When the trimmer line runs out, it needs to be replaced. The HEINPRO weed wacker uses 0.08-inch diameter trimmer line.

Follow these steps to replace the trimmer line:
- Remove Battery: Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.
- Remove Spool Cover: Press the tabs on the side of the trimmer head and lift off the spool cover.
- Remove Old Spool: Take out the empty spool from the trimmer head.
- Prepare New Line: Take a new pre-wound spool or wind new 0.08-inch line onto an empty spool, following the arrow direction indicated on the spool. Ensure the line ends are secured in the notches.
- Insert New Spool: Place the new spool into the trimmer head, feeding the line ends through the eyelets on the trimmer head.
- Replace Spool Cover: Align the spool cover and press it firmly until it clicks into place.
- Advance Line: Gently pull the line ends until they are at the desired length, or use the bump feed function after re-installing the battery and starting the trimmer.

5.2 General Cleaning and Storage
- After each use, remove the battery and clean the trimmer head and guard of any grass clippings or debris.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Store the trimmer in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
