Introduction

The HH HPX-108 is a compact and powerful 300W peak 8-inch active loudspeaker designed for various audio applications including classrooms, small venues, speech reinforcement, and portable PA setups.   • Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  • Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  • Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
  • Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  • Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

  1. Input Section: Combination XLR/TRS jack for Mic or Line level signals.
  2. Volume Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the speaker.
  3. Bass Control: Adjusts the low-frequency response.
  4. Treble Control: Adjusts the high-frequency response.
  5. XLR Output (LINK): Provides a balanced output for connecting to another HPX-108 speaker or a mixer.
  6. Power Switch: Turns the unit on or off.
  7. AC Input: Connects the supplied power cable.
  8. Power Indicator LED: Illuminates when the unit is powered on.

Setup

  1. Placement: Position the HPX-108 speaker in the desired location. It can be placed on a flat surface, used as a floor monitor (using its wedge angle), or mounted on a pole stand (using the integrated pole mount socket) or suspended via M8 rigging points. Ensure stability for all placement options.
  2. Power Connection: Ensure the speaker's power switch is in the OFF position. Connect the supplied power cable to the AC Input on the rear panel of the speaker and then to a suitable mains power outlet.
  3. Input Connection:
    • For a microphone: Connect your microphone to the Input jack using an XLR or 1/4-inch TRS cable.
    • For a line-level source (e.g., mixer, instrument, media player): Connect your device to the Input jack using an XLR or 1/4-inch TRS cable.
  4. Output Connection (Optional): If linking to another HPX-108 speaker or an external mixer, connect an XLR cable from the XLR Output (LINK) of the first speaker to the input of the next device.
  5. Initial Settings: Before powering on, set the Volume, Bass, and Treble controls to their center (12 o'clock) positions.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once all connections are made and initial settings are checked, flip the Power Switch to the ON position. The Power Indicator LED will illuminate.
  2. Adjust Volume: Gradually increase the Volume control to achieve the desired listening level. Start with the source device's volume low and increase it as needed.
  3. Adjust EQ: Use the Bass and Treble controls to fine-tune the sound.
    • Turn the Bass control clockwise to boost low frequencies or counter-clockwise to cut them.
    • Turn the Treble control clockwise to boost high frequencies or counter-clockwise to cut them.
  4. Monitoring Levels: Listen carefully to ensure the sound is clear and free from distortion. If distortion occurs, reduce the input level from your source device or the speaker's Volume control.
  5. Power Off: Before disconnecting any cables or moving the speaker, turn the Power Switch to the OFF position.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in a dry, dust-free environment.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the power cable and input/output cables for any signs of damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.

Troubleshooting
