4. Setup Instructions
4.1. Unpacking and Inspection
Remove the pump and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during shipping. If any damage is found, do not proceed with installation and contact customer support.
4.2. Connecting to RV Waste Tank
- Ensure the RV waste tank valve is closed.
- Connect the inlet port of the macerator pump to the RV's waste tank outlet. Use the provided 3/4" NPT brass fittings and stainless steel hose clamps to ensure a secure, leak-proof connection.
- Tighten all connections firmly but do not overtighten.
4.3. Connecting Discharge Hose
- Attach the provided 1" clear discharge hose to the pump's outlet port.
- Secure the hose with a stainless steel hose clamp to prevent leaks during operation.
- Direct the discharge hose to an approved sewage disposal site or dump station. Ensure the hose is laid out without kinks or sharp bends.
4.4. Power Connection
Choose one of the following power connection methods:
- Using Alligator Clips: Connect the red clip to the positive (+) terminal of a 12V battery and the black clip to the negative (-) terminal. Ensure a secure connection.
- Using Cigarette Lighter Plug: Insert the 12V cigarette lighter plug into a compatible 12V DC power outlet in your vehicle or RV.
Ensure the power source is capable of providing sufficient current for the pump's operation (150W motor).
5. Operating the Macerator Pump
5.1. Priming the Pump
The Gidrox macerator pump is self-priming. However, for optimal performance, ensure there is liquid in the waste tank before starting. If the pump runs dry for more than a few seconds, turn it off immediately to prevent damage.
5.2. Starting the Pump
- Ensure all connections are secure and the discharge hose is properly positioned.
- Open the RV waste tank valve.
- Connect the pump to the 12V power source. The pump will begin to operate.
5.3. Monitoring Operation
Observe the clear viewing window on the pump. This allows you to monitor the discharge and ensure proper flow. If the flow stops or becomes intermittent, refer to the troubleshooting section.
5.4. Shutting Down and Rinsing
- Once the waste tank is empty, close the RV waste tank valve.
- Disconnect the pump from the 12V power source.
- To rinse the pump and hose, connect a freshwater source to the RV's black tank flush system (if available) or pour fresh water into the tank.
- Reconnect the pump to power and run it for a short period (30-60 seconds) with fresh water to flush out any remaining debris.
- Disconnect power and carefully disconnect the hoses. Store the pump in a clean, dry place.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Post-Operation Cleaning
Always rinse the pump and discharge hose thoroughly with fresh water after each use to prevent odor buildup and maintain pump efficiency. The viewing window can help confirm the system is clean.
6.2. Seal Inspection
Periodically inspect all seals and connections for wear or damage. Replace the sealing ring if it shows signs of cracking or deterioration. A spare sealing ring is included for convenience.
6.3. Winterization
Before storing the pump in freezing temperatures, ensure all water is drained from the pump and hoses. Running RV antifreeze through the pump can help protect internal components from freezing damage.
