3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your GL.iNet MT5000 (Brume 3) for the first time:

  1. Connect to the Internet: Use the provided Ethernet cable to connect your modem or an Ethernet wall socket to the GL-MT5000's WAN port.
  2. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the GL-MT5000 and plug it into a power outlet. The system LED will turn white once it successfully connects to the internet.
  3. Connect to your Computer: Insert one end of an Ethernet cable to the GL-MT5000's LAN port and the other end to your computer's Ethernet port. Alternatively, connect to the device's Wi-Fi network (SSID and password are on the device label).
  4. Access Admin Panel: Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.8.1.
  5. Configure Admin Password: Select your preferred language and set a strong admin panel password.

4. Operating the GL.iNet MT5000 (Brume 3)

4.1. VPN Client Configuration

The Brume 3 supports hardware-accelerated WireGuard and OpenVPN-DCO for high-speed VPN throughput. To configure a VPN client:

  1. Access the Admin Panel (http://192.168.8.1).
  2. Navigate to the 'VPN' section in the left-hand menu.
  3. Select 'VPN Client' and choose your preferred VPN service provider (e.g., Surfshark, NordVPN).
  4. Enter your VPN login credentials and select a server location.
  5. Click 'Apply' to activate the VPN connection.

4.2. Multi-WAN and Failover

The tri-port 2.5GbE design allows for flexible WAN/LAN configurations, supporting dual-ISP Multi-WAN and failover to maintain network uptime. This is particularly useful for critical applications or in areas with unreliable internet service.

4.3. DPI Security and Traffic Control

Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) provides enhanced security by blocking malicious sites and offering visual dashboards for traffic monitoring. To enable DPI:

  1. In the Admin Panel, go to 'Flow Control' > 'DPI License'.
  2. Click 'Start 30-Day Trial' or activate your license.
  3. Agree to the terms and click 'Let's Start'.
  4. Once activated, you can monitor traffic and configure content filters under 'Data Statistics' and 'Content Filter'.

8. Maintenance
