3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Charging the Headset

Before first use, fully charge your headset. Connect the charging base to a power source using the provided USB-C cable. Place the headset onto the charging base. The breathing light on the dock will indicate charging status:

  • Blue (breathing): Device Powered
  • Red (breathing): Charging now
  • Green (solid): Fully charged

A full charge takes approximately 2 hours and provides up to 45 hours of talk time.

3.2 Connecting via 2.4G USB Dongle (for PC/Laptop)

  1. Plug the USB dongle into an available USB-A or USB-C port on your computer. Use the provided USB-C adapter if necessary.
  2. Power on the headset. The headset will automatically connect to the dongle. A solid blue light on the dongle indicates a successful connection.
  3. On your computer, ensure the Acer OHR689 is selected as the default audio input and output device in your sound settings.

3.3 Connecting via Bluetooth 5.3 (for Mobile/PC)

  1. With the headset powered on, slide the mode switch button to the 'BT' (Bluetooth) position. The headset will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing LED.
  2. On your mobile device or computer, go to Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
  3. Select "Acer OHR689" from the list to pair. The LED on the headset will turn solid blue once connected.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the power button until the LED indicator lights up.
  • To power off, press and hold the power button until the LED indicator turns off.

4.2 Dual Connectivity and Switching Modes

The OHR689 supports simultaneous connection to a PC via the 2.4G dongle and a mobile device via Bluetooth. You can switch between modes using the dedicated switch button on the earcup.

  • 2.4G Mode: Slide the switch up for PC/laptop connection via USB dongle.
  • Bluetooth Mode: Slide the switch down for mobile device connection via Bluetooth.

4.3 Call Management

  • Answer Call: Press the power button once.
  • Reject Call: Press the power button twice.
  • End Call: Press the power button once during a call.

4.4 Microphone Mute

Press the dedicated mute button on the earcup to instantly silence the microphone during calls or meetings. Press again to unmute.

4.5 Volume Control

Use the volume up/down buttons on the earcup to adjust the audio level.

4.6 Sleep Mode for Power Saving

The headset features smart power management:

  • After 10 minutes of inactivity (Phone & PC): Enters sleep mode. Headset remains connected, but the LED turns off.
  • After 60 minutes of inactivity: Headset automatically powers off to conserve battery.
  • To wake from sleep: Press the multifunction button once. Incoming calls or meetings will also wake the headset.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the headset and charging stand with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.

5.2 Earpad Replacement

The earpads are replaceable to extend the life of your headset. Follow these steps:

  1. Twist to Unlock: Hold the cushion and twist it counter-clockwise to release.
  2. Pull Off: Lift the cushion away from the earcup.
  3. Align & Turn On: Match the new cushion's clips with the earcup slots and turn clockwise until secure.
  4. Lock in Place: Ensure it's fully seated and firm.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Acer OHR689 headset, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Power: Ensure the headset is fully charged. Place it on the charging stand or connect directly via USB-C cable.
  • No Sound/Microphone Not Working:
    • Check if the headset is correctly paired/connected to your device (solid blue LED).
    • Verify that the Acer OHR689 is selected as the default audio input/output device in your computer's sound settings or mobile device's audio settings.
    • Ensure the microphone is not muted (check the mute button).
