Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the ebike's power is completely off and the battery is disconnected. Refer to Figure 3 for the wiring diagram.

  1. Power Supply (3): Connect the main power cables from your 48V battery to the controller's power supply interface. Ensure correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
  2. Motor Cables (9, 10, 11): Connect the three main motor phase wires (typically green, blue, yellow) from your brushless motor to the corresponding motor cable interfaces on the controller.
  3. Motor Hall (2): Connect the motor's Hall sensor wires to the motor Hall interface. This provides feedback on motor position.
  4. Display (7): Connect your KDS protocol display meter to the display interface. This enables communication between the controller and the display for speed, battery level, and settings.
  5. Throttle (1): Connect the throttle grip to the throttle interface. This allows for manual speed control.
  6. Assistance / PAS (4): Connect the pedal assist sensor (PAS) to the assistance interface. This enables motor assistance when pedaling.
  7. Brake (5, 6): Connect your brake levers (typically with cut-off sensors) to the brake interfaces. These signals cut motor power when brakes are applied.
  8. Tachometer Signal (8): Connect the speed sensor signal wire to the tachometer signal interface for accurate speed readings on your display.
  9. Tail Light/Brake Light (12): Connect your tail light and/or brake light to this interface.
  10. Light (13): Connect your ebike's front light to this interface.

After all connections are made, secure the controller in a suitable location on your ebike, ensuring it is protected from moisture and physical damage. Double-check all connections before reconnecting the battery and powering on the system.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the X055-AAM001 controller works in conjunction with your KDS protocol display to manage your ebike's power system.

  • Power On/Off: Use the power button on your KDS display to turn the ebike system on or off.
  • Speed Control: The controller provides stable speed control. Use the throttle for direct acceleration or rely on the pedal assist system (PAS) for motor assistance while pedaling.
  • Braking: The controller is designed for sensitive braking. When the brake levers are engaged, the controller will cut power to the motor, ensuring safe deceleration.
  • Display Interaction: Your KDS display will show important information such as current speed, battery level, assist level, and mileage, all managed by the controller.
  • Mode Selection: Adjust pedal assist levels or other settings via your KDS display as per its specific instructions.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your controller.

  • Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the controller's exterior with a dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
  • Check Connections: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion or damage. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or system failure.
  • Avoid Water Exposure: While the aluminum casing offers some protection, avoid submerging the controller in water or exposing it to heavy rain for extended periods.
  • Temperature Management: The aluminum alloy shell is designed for heat dissipation. Ensure the controller is not covered or placed in an area where airflow is restricted, especially during prolonged use.
  • Physical Inspection: Check for any signs of physical damage to the casing or wires. If damage is found, consult a professional for repair or replacement.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ebike system, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power to Display/Motor:
    • Check battery charge level.
    • Verify all power supply connections (interface 3) are secure.
    • Ensure the KDS display is properly connected (interface 7) and powered on.
  • Motor Not Responding to Throttle/PAS:
    • Check throttle connection (interface 1).
    • Verify PAS sensor connection (interface 4).
    • Inspect motor Hall sensor wires (interface 2) and motor phase wires (interfaces 9, 10, 11) for damage or loose connections.
    • Ensure brake levers are not engaged, as they cut motor power.
  • Inaccurate Speed Reading:
    • Check the tachometer signal connection (interface 8).
    • Ensure the speed sensor is correctly installed and functioning.
  • Display Errors:
    • Refer to your KDS display's manual for specific error codes.
    • Ensure the display is securely connected to the controller.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support.
